49ers | Deebo Samuel to skip on-field work    Mon Apr 18, 02:20 PM

San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel will not participate in on-field work during the team's offseason program until he gets a new contract, per sources.

Footballguys view: Samuel is looking for a contract that pays him around $25 million annually per reports. He may not get that much, but Samuel is going to get a big pay day from the 49ers. Entering the final year of his rookie contract, Samuel is arguably the most important player on San Francisco's offense.

Commanders | Terry McLaurin plans to skip on-field work    Mon Apr 18, 02:12 PM

Washington Commanders WR Terry McLaurin will not take part in on-field work during the team's offseason program until he receives a new contract, according to sources.

Footballguys view: The Commanders have yet to make a contract offer to extend McLaurin, but that could be coming in late July. That means McLaurin may not get on the practice field to participate until training camp. McLaurin is one of the few bright spots on Washington's roster, so locking him down with a new contract is a given - it is just a matter of time.

Titans | A.J. Brown plans to skip on-field work    Mon Apr 18, 02:04 PM

Tennessee Titans WR A.J. Brown doesn't plan on taking part in on-field work during the team's offseason program until he gets a new contract, according to sources.

Footballguys view: The Titans need to secure Brown's talents, and the team has constantly said they are not going to trade the superstar receiver. We'll see if they can get something done at some point in the offseason - likely before the start of training camp in late July.

Why would it be bad form to track holdouts?

Tannehill didn't show up for initial workouts either.
That was mainly a rhetorical question. The title was just to avoid the perfunctory debates about holdouts in general.

I was going to post about Tannehill, but figured I'd start with the triad of WRs in the last year of their contract.

I was very close to starting a topic saying to ignore holdouts.

These are not mandatory. It’s not news when a player skips them, yet it generates a ton of noise on slow news days.

Deebo pulled the Murray-stunt and unfollowed the 49'ers on his Twitter, yes/no? Seems to be the new standard protocol to inform teams you're not happy with how things are progressing.

Yeah missing a voluntary workout is absolutely NBD but it is the first step on the path of not showing up to TC.

Ultimately there are very, very few real holdouts, even fewer that involve missing games, but it's not a bad idea to monitor the overall gruntledness level across the league, particularly for those with early drafts.

Could also be 28 other teams laughing at those 4 for being dumb though. Especially when it comes to the jags.

Jags for sure. But the bar is now set for the top-10 WR market by the other three plus D. Hopkins at ~$23-24 MM per year. Deebo, McClaurin, AJB, DKM are all going to get deals based around that figure - by their own teams or trade partners.

Isn’t it basically impossible to hold out into training camp now, let alone the regular season. That last CBA basically eliminated the possibility of holding out.
