He may have been targeted a few times. With Smith at QB, you really can't tell.
Agree. He's been well covered. Alex Smith IS looking to go to Vernon but has been going to his 2nd, 3rd options more often.It does look like the loss of Norv is affecting creativity of this offense.

Cards seemed to be making a point to make sure he didn't beat them. But they have to put him in motion or line him up outside...something...5 yards receiving...come on.
They niners played not to lose and they should have. GOing into the last drive they had about 70 yds total offense. That is a joke, pathetic play calling. They gave to gore and he was getting bottled up once arizona figured out that was there only plan. THe niners better rethink there strategy on offense
Yes I was starting to think the same thing. Smith didn't look like he was comfortable at all while going through his progressions, worrying more about the pass rush then his receivers. Hopefully he gets some more time in the pocket next week.

First, let me caveat that this is just a rumor. You can either choose to believe it or not. Oft times, when someone on this board weighs in with some inside information, its dismissed out of hand. That's fine. I can understand that. That said, my sources inside the 49ers organization say that a search for a replacment offensive coordinator is already well underway. Roughly a half dozen members of the San Francisco executive leadership team have fanned out across Northern California already. No bed and breakfast will be left off the list. If there is a suitable alternative, they will find him regardless of how many afternoon teas and nights in strange beds it takes.

Vernon is a physical freak, but I think anyone hoping for this guy to develop likes Gates will be disappointed. He just doesn't seem to have very much natural receiving ability, even in Gates' rookie year, he just looked so fluid catching the ball.Add in the fact that his hands are meh, and to me it sure seems this guy was drafted way to high by the 49ers.
