IT'S OFFICIAL - we are a nation of fat basts (1 Viewer)

Its not the lifestyle.

Its the food.  Almost everything in the market is garbage.
don't buy it at all ... if one works to keep fit and active, they can mitigate food choices.

not discounting crap food as a cause, but not buying that it's more of a culprit than laziness and inactivity - if anything, it's just about equal, imo

Lifestyle definitely has a huge impact on not just our weight, but our overall wellness.  Humans didn't evolve to sit or lay down for 22 hours/day.  We evolved walking long distances and utilizing our muscles efficiently so we could go for long periods of time with little food but still be able to travel distances.  Now this efficiency works against us as we don't move much and when we do we don't expend a ton of energy doing so.

I'm a big fan of bigger women as long as they don't have a belly.  Then no, #### no.  Too many young chicks these days with dude bellies, it's so disgusting.  Chicks have to have wider hips than middle sections to be attractive, this kind of crap is just :X
Exactly. I can handle some weight as long as its not around the midsection. A little puff is fine but i get grossed out when i reached around her and can grab soemthing there.

I'd add a few more things to this:

-THE PILL.  For a lot of women, birth control pills cause weight gain.

-WORK/CAREERS.  Look who now enjoys the "benefits" of an entire lifetime of being in the workforce, being on the run, coping with the stress of jobs, etc.

-SOCIAL MEDIA & TECHNOLOGY.  In the past 20 years, in particular, everything has become so much more accessible and less labor-intensive. Combine that with society's seemingly being addicted to have our collective noses in a screen and asses on a chair/couch and the combination for calorie burning is shot.

I don't think it is ANY wonder where we are today. During trips to other countries, you can see stark differences and, overall, stark differences in the fitness level of people, how they prioritize a work/life balance, etc.  This is not surprising in the least to me.

Clearly the answer is both.

But all the things that make us sedentary,  they exist elsewhere.  Other countries have people that are just as sedentary.

So why are Americans so much more fat?

Corn syrup in everything,  preservatives, etc.

You cannot eat like that in other countries.  Go to Europe, walk in a market,  grab a loaf of bread,  and read the ingredients.  Any loaf on the shelf.  Won't take long.  It's real bread.

You have to hunt high and low in American markets to find bread worth eating.  Breakfast cereal? Nightmare.

Meat and poultry?  Horrible,  usually comes from steroid-pumping mega producers.

It's a pain in the butt, and expensive, to eat right.
