Ivory - Free Agent? (1 Viewer)

Restricted Free Agent

Rotoworld: 4/27/2010: Signed a three-year, $1.22 million contract. The deal included a $5,000 signing bonus. 2012: $540,000 (+ $79,200 "signing" bonus), 2013: Restricted Free Agent

Trying to decide if chances are he leaves saints.. I want nothing to do with him if he resigns cause no RB will ever be able to get enough touches in NO..

Right, because Sproles wasn't top 10 last year.
This aint last year and even as good of a season Sproles had I don't know about you but I never felt 100% comfortable starting him..
I agree. First year I owned him, and I find it nerve wracking scrolling past the rushing stats to the receiving stats to see how my RB is doing that day.

We've got to at least tender him at a 2nd round value. Although, I think if another team matches the offer, it can be negotiated down to a lower round pick.

The tender isn't a baseline to be matched by another team. It is a one-year offer that allows the rights-owning team to match an offer sheet agreement between the player and another team and is what makes a player a restricted free agent. Absent the tender, he is unrestricted. Teams can negotiate additional compensation for not matching an offer sheet on a tendered player.

Ok, it's not last year, but he's still #14 RB in my ppr league even after missing 3 games. Stats don't lie.

Right. But a team may set either 1st and 2nd round, etc tenders on the player so that if they don't match, they receive that level compensatory pick in exchange.

Here's the contract status' of the NO RBs

Sproles 3M in 2013, 3.4M in 2014.

Ingram 1.1M in 2013, 1.5M in 2014 all fully guaranteed.

Thomas 2.5M in 2013, 2.8M in 2014.

Ivory RFA in 2013.

2012 2nd Round tender level was just under 2M. 2013 should be just over 2M.

In theory, the Saints could cut Thomas and replace him with Ivory for 2013 and save themselves about half a million dollars. Based on their roles, and the guaranteed money Ingram is owed, it will probably come down to the either or of Thomas and Ivory.
