J.Cotchery - Outlook going forward (1 Viewer)

Started out hot like the J E T S, but got hurt and is on a bye this week. What do the sharks think he'll do the rest of the year?

Cotchery has missed time through injury and is a completely different player to Edwards. He will get decent yardage but won't be a primary red zone target.

Bottom line is that I see no reason why he can't post similar numbers to those he was putting up at the start of the season. I would definitely be keeping and see him as a low end WR2.

Jets WRs have a nice matchup this weekend..

Cotch is a great #2 NFL WR and a solid #3 fantasy WR that you can spot start if you are in a bind - get yards and catches but TDs are few and far between. He should have a nce end of the season with Braylon getting all the attention but dont see lots of TDs. He usually gets over 1,000 yds and a handful of TDs - expect the same.

I’m a Cotchery dynasty owner and his value going forward this year and next year concerns me. While he and Braylon are different types of WRs, I think the receiving pie is only so big right now for the Jets… and between the two aforementioned WRs and Keller, I don’t see any of their respective slices being all too big. –I agree with the previous poster that stated FF WR3 numbers are probably what one should expect. Just my view.

I kinda think Cotchery will show a little more than a FF WR3 actually, he's established a strong connection with the Rookie QB and has proven himself as a sure handed reliable WR, Sanchez is still a rookie and will have his most success with a possession receiver like Cotchery vs a "Big Play" receiver like Edwards ... now that the bye is past and Cotchery is back to 100% I think his pre Edwards/pre injury season will pick up once more and he will be the more productive of the receiving corp in NY Jets land.

:lmao:

It seems like Edwards will draw the #1 CB and more double coverage having the big play potential. Cotchery should rack up more receptions and total yards when all is said and done at the end of the day. The level of Sanchez's play will dictate if the Jets move the ball enough for the piece of the pie to be big enough for Cotchery.

IMO he will be a #2 WR in PPR leagues, not many huge or dog games, more of a consistent producer.

Cotchery has missed 2 games and only had 1 catch for 4 yards in another (@MIA) because he was already injured and they used him on the field as a decoy only. The injury they suited him up with was the same injury that forced him to miss the next 2 games so that shows you he had no business being on the field in Miami.

In games he has actually “Played” this year, his yardage totals are:

90

87

108

71

70

You can’t get more consistent than that. He is a borderline #2 but certainly a #3.
