Not sure how I feel about this. Always liked the series. Liked the previews but Kevin Costner seems very campy/fake.

Emerged on the scene with a splash in Red October starring Alec Baldwin

Made famous by Harrison Ford in Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger.

Killed like a baby seal by Ben Affleck in the Sum of All Fears.

Now a reboot and with Shadow Recruit starring Chris Pine (the new Capt Kirk), Keira Knightley, Kevin Costner and starring/directed by Kenneth Brannagh.

I'm still waiting for the movie based on the novel Without Remorse. THAT is a prequel I want to see.

Too many details in the book they would have to cut out IMO. Better to leave it be than screw it up with a bad movie.

Agree 100%. How many Jack Ryan books are there? So they "reboot" with Pine (who is a good actor) and this thing makes a zillion dollars (not holding my breath). Where do they go from there since October, etc. have been made already.

I think that there are 9 Jack Ryan books. Once they are done with those, they can start with the Jack Ryan Jr. books.

Of course, now that Clancy is dead, I would imagine that things will quiet down.

Agreed. Jack Ryan is perfect as the reluctant hero he is.

This movie was pretty terrible. Take Jack Ryan off of it and I'd say it's passable as a mediocre action flick but this was awful otherwise.

Debt of Honor and Executive Orders por favor.

Although Debt of Honor would kind of suck as a movie -- they could just do Executive Orders and put the ending event of Debt of Honor at the beginning. Executive Orders was definitely my favorite book but good Lord was that thing a frigging doorstop. (Rainbow Six was second, but that's not a Jack Ryan book, just the same universe -- John Clark and Ding Chavez fugg shiz up the entire book, it's great).
