Jacksonville's 1st TD (1 Viewer)

Jacksonvilles 1st TD came on what I thought was a fake punt. My commish says that it came from an offensive formation, therefore no points for D/ST. I dont care much in that league, but in the league I commish, we use MFL and it didnt give a td to the Jacksonville owner. Should I manually add 6 to his score? I had to do the same thing in week 1 when Buffalo (I think) scored on a fake FG.

Anyone have any thoughts on Jacksonvilles TD? Offensive or D/ST?

This was discussed a lot in Week 1 with the Buffalo play. The consensus opinion was that it's up to each league to decide how they choose to score it. However, I think most people (myself included) believe it should be scored as an offensive TD, not a special teams TD.

It was a direct snap to a running back. I would think it would be an offensive TD.

This occurence is even simpler than the normal discussion of this topic which gets asked again and again and again and again and again and again and again. The people who argue which "unit" is on the field don't even have an argument to make this time. The Jags did not bring their punt unit on the field. The TV broadcast even replayed the play and pointed out the Texans had their punt coverage against the Jags regular offensive starters minus Garrad, and so the Texans should have called a time out.No way it was a special teams play, any more than a direct snap to Ronnie Brown is a special teams play.

Not a DEF/ST score

Usually the only scores that count are:

Punt return TD

KO return TD

INT return TD

Fumble recovery TD

Blocked kick return TD

Saftey

Fake punts and the like do not count

This matter is settled! Thanks to those of you that replied with helpful advice. To the rest of you, so sorry for wasting your precious time. You may now move on to the Chris Johnson thread.

The rule of thumb my leagues have always used is that it is not a special teams play until the ball is kicked, no matter who is in on the play. No kick = offensive play.
