jacoby jones vs james jones (1 Viewer)

I was curious as to what everyone thinks of these two. I know there have been a lot of discussion concerning both of them but what of them being compared to one another.

I'm not looking for information on this pertaining to this year but what is everyone's take as to their success in years to come. Who has more upside and why?

The information I've gathered is Jacoby is more talented than James. However Jacoby is behind Andre Johnson and will only get WR2 throws/looks. On the other hand James looks to be a good successor to Driver, who's up in age, but will soon have a new QB throwing to him.

After all is said and done. Who of the two do you keep for the future?

I usually go with talent and upside when judging players over the long-term, and Jacoby Jones is the one I would keep. He has huge upside. He played at a tiny college and has not even begun to tap into his potential.

Jacoby Jones has more upside.

People seem to forget how effective Jennings was when he was healthy. Donald Driver is going nowhere. Brett will be back next season, but with Driver and Jennings ahead of him, James Jones will be no better than a WR3. James Jones doesnt have that one "special" aspect to his game. He runs good routes, but doesnt blaze. He has excellent size, but he is more stocky. He is going to be a heck of a target over the middle. He is going to be a very good 3rd WR for the Packers, Very good but a 3rd WR.

On the other hand, Jacoby Jones is all alone at the top of the depth chart. He has a franchise player lining up opposite him to attract attention. He has no real competition. He has blazing speed. He has a huge verticle jump. He also has great size, but his height is what makes him a great end zone target at 6 ft 4in.

While both players are talented, Jacoby has more of an opportunity and a huge height advantage, which to me makes him the better fantasy player over the forseeable future.

It's an interesting question, ffguru. As with all dynasty questions, surrounding cast plays a big role. You have to wonder how long Favre will keep playing. And how well. And also if what we're seeing of Schaub is reality or just a guy starting off hot. And the position among the WRs is a factor too. Assuming Johnson stays a Texan, whoever that plays WR for Houston is going to be WAY behind him. Johnson is by far the most under rated WR I see out there among the top guys. He's fantastic. James on the other hand has a much better shot to land the title of best WR on the team in a few years. Although Jennings is a solid player we're not talking about as much because of his injury.I can see making cases from both sides.J

Well I guess a true testament to Jacoby's abilities will come in the next few weeks while Andre is out due to injury. If he can produce while drawing the top corners of the opposing team I will be convinced he's the man.
