Jags Offense (MSW, MJD, Garrard) (1 Viewer)

I haven't watched all the patriots games this year, but when I have seen them, there Defense has been awful. I know stats can be misleading, so I am wondering what everyone is thinking this week.

Just trying to figure out what to expect from the Jags offense this week.

well, I have all 3 and I'm starting them. MJD should be fine....the other 2, not so sure. Pats always play better to end the season and it's a home game....

I own two of the three (MSW, MJD) and am definitely playing MJD. MSW is on the bench for now. That could change by Sunday.

The problem isn't the Pats defense for me. Its the lack of consistency the Jags offense has shown on the road.

If you are basing your analysis on games against the Colts and Saints, then yes the Pats defense is terrible. But overall they rank 3rd in fewest points allowed, 10th in yards allowed, 9th against the pass, and 15th against the run. NE's biggest issue has been that they have had key guys banged up on both sides of the ball and their DL is still ailing with Wilfork and Warren potentially out again. Both were limited at practice today.

This is a key point. The Jags offensive line goes through periods where it can't block allowing MJD to get stuffed at or behind the line of scrimmage and forcing Garrard into "happy feet" syndrome and carelessness with the ball.I am playing MJD this week even though the Pats generally tend to play pretty well against the run when (if) Wilfork and/or Warren are healthy.

This is a big game for both teams as the Pats need to win to secure there playoff spot and allow them to rest injured players against Houston; the Jags need to win to stay alive.

Totally agree that the Jag's inconsistency is the limiting factor here -- and a great point about a must-win game for both teams.

For me, MJD starts no matter what. But I am sitting MSW in favor of some other WRs with great matchups and good upside, like Josh Morgan and possibly even Terrell Owens.

Garrad has scored exactly ONE TD on the road this year.....ONE!

I think The PATS will scheme to stop the Jags ONLY weapon and force Garrad into a lot of mistakes and sacks.

Pats DEF is a highly under rated play this week AT home with their backs against the wall! Look for them to be plenty hyped up for this one!

How are their backs against the wall? I think they just need to win one of the last 2 to lock up a playoff spot.

That's what you took from my post? Clearly you are nick-picking.YES, based on how dreadful they have been playing, and with this being their LAST home game, and not clinched yet. I'd say they are badly in need of not only a victory but a statement type game. Lose this one and go to Houston needing to win is NOT the situation they want. So yea, I think their backs are against the wall. IMO.

I'd feel a lot better about this game being played in Jacksonville than in New England for the Jags players. As others have mentioned, the Jags have played some horrible games on the road this season (Seattle, San Francisco.) Having said that, you start MJD because you always play your studs, I am playing Garrard over Carson Palmer although its very close and I may switch that by gametime, I am also starting MSW over Derrick Ward in my flex position.

I see the pats focusing mainly on MJD this week, which could open up things for Garrard and MSW, but they ARE on the road and it IS David Garrard so I wouldn't expect big things. The only positive thing going for the passing game is that they will more than likely fall behind early and Garrard will have to chuck it early and often.

Well, if you want a positive stat, NE is 23rd in passing TD's allowed. And considering that MSW is the prime receiver in the passing game he's a pretty good candidate to get one.

I see the Pats winning the game. Scheming to contain MJD. Thus, the Jags being behind and forced to throw. Therefore a pretty good fantasy scoring environment for MSW.

MJD I'd say start no matter what, unless you are absolutely stacked and are looking at another Top-5 RB.MSW really played well last week and the Jags have some extra rest coming into this game.I picked up Morgan with the idea that his matchup looked good enough to start over MSW but I'm leaning towards keeping MSW in now; the guy's just been clutch this year for his team (and me).Garrard to me is the question mark (and this applies for MSW too). He looked great vs Indy (well, until the end). Again it's a question of what the other options are.

David Garrard has a middle name.

It is Douglas.

He won't ever really break out until folks start calling him DDG.

(Gotta love Marilyn Chambers as the Ivory Snow chick. She don't need no monogram.)

Yeah, you are right. That incredible insight that NE will try and take away the Jags best weapon was brilliant. How could I have glazed over that? Or the fact that you were clearly WRONG that Garrard has only scored one TD on the road this year when he has three? Clearly you over rate the depth of your analysis. If anything I would think that the team that has to win to maintain its chance for a playoff game would be the one classified as the one with its "back against the wall".
