Jaguars VP Player Personnel has resigned effective at the end of the season, which for Jags will be after Sunday's game  Gene Smith has been named to take his place. Here's the nice PR story on Jaguars.com

Jaguars Harris Resigns

The fans have been pretty much screaming for his head after what seems like a more than average amount of questionable draft choices and free agent acquisitions over the last few years. We shall see...

Waving goodbye to Stroud and hello to Jerry Porter and Troy Williamson can't be good for a career...

The guy has had 2-4 hits (MJD, Mathis and maybe R.Nelson and Durant) and whole lot of misses. Leftwich, R.Williams, Matt Jones and M.Lewis as consecutive first-round picks is just ridiculous.

Remember he inherited Stroud, Henderson, Meier, Spicer, Garrard, F.Taylor, J.Smith, Meester, M.Williams and Naeole.

He cut Chris Hanson, who's doing fine with the Pats now, and drafted Adam Podelesh because he ran a 4.4 40. Who cares about a punter's 40 time?

I hope they don't 86 Del Rio too.

I viewed canning the personnel guy as Del Rio consolidating power, but I could be wrong...

Gene Smith? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

If the reports about Pioli wanting to go elsewhere are true, this is a failure of a decision. Personally, I want Marty, but alas, we skimp on the most important (arguably) role of the organization.

Same song, different verse.

:deadbanana:

Out of curiosity since I don't know...who was responsible for these guys?

A Jacksonville local may be more accurate, but I think the answer is Coughlin. After firing Coughlin the owner wanted to not have such consolidated power again so the positions were established as co-equals. Watching from afar I was never sure who was calling the drafting moves. I remember when the Jags were fetured in the traing camp show, it was the year Williams was a rookie and DelRio seemed pretty happy with him.I'm curious as to how the team approach was implemented there.
