Jaguars Wide Receivers (1 Viewer)

From CBS Sportsline:

Garrard is not a strong Fantasy option for Week 8 going up against the Eagles defense. They have had their struggles as of late, but still lead the league in sacks, and will more than likely bring the pressure on Sunday with Garrard making his first start of the season.

News: According to ESPN.com, Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio has named David Garrard as the team's starting quarterback for Sunday's game against the Eagles replacing the injured Byron Leftwich, who remains questionable on the injury report. Leftwich is dealing with a sprained left ankle that flared up prior to Week 7's game against the Texans. Del Rio indicated after last week's loss at Houston that he did not feel the ankle was a factor in Leftwich's performance. He then later changed his mind after reviewing tape of the game.

Analysis: This news directly impacts WRs Reggie Williams, Ernest Wilford and the injured Matt Jones. Williams is coming off his worst performance of the year where he had no catches against the Texans. He needed a bounce back game in the worst way, but with Garrard under center, it is just too hard to gauge what kind of chemistry they can conjur up on such short notice. Use caution with using Williams as a possible Fantasy WR for Week 8. Wilford and Jones, who is listed as questionable, are not recommended Fantasy options for Week 8 seeing how they haven't produced enough to be reliable Fantasy options at this time.

What do you sharks think, are you sitting Williams (and/or Wilford)?

The Eagles have a weak passing D. Someone's gonna have 100 yards on Sunday. Don't know who it'll be, though.

I'm sitting him... but only because i have better options

Driver, Boldin and Gates in one league

CJ, Wayne and Driver in another

I'd start him over somone like Troy Williamson though

ETA: "Him" being Reg. Williams... i'd be shy w/ Wilford or Jones

Garrard is a bigger risk-taker than Leftwich, and as such, he can move the ball better and will have better numbers (but also is more likely to turn the ball over).

I am starting Reggie Williams with confidence, but it's more because I don't believe Matt Jones is healthy and I don't believe Ernest Wilford is all that good.

I think because RW is the best receiving option for Garrard, he'll have the best day.

This game should be a shootout and will surprise a lot who feel like the Jags will a) struggle on offense, and b) shut down McNabb.

Hard to start a guy "with confidence" who had the same amount of catches last week as me.But I might have to. I have three guys for two spots:- Williams- Benson- Ike Bruce (but I already am starting Holt, so.....)Leaning towards the first two.

With Philly's good offense and Jax defensive injuries, I think Garrard will have to pass a lot.

I've started Williams 4 straight weeks and got two goose eggs and two excllent weeks. Obviously consistency is not his strong suit. With Roy Williams on bye, I'll have Reggie in.

My frustration as a Williams owner boiled over last week. Williams is ridiculously up and down.

Having an unreliable WR3 in my league that starts three wide receivers generates much angst. Every week I have to look into a crystal ball and figure out who to roll the dice on amongst:

Reggie Williams - inconsistent

Deion Branch - Matt is out

Isaac Bruce - inconsistent (old?)

Eddie Kennison - Huard is out?

Doug Gabriel - 3/40/1 is top end?

Mike Furrey - 8 catches or zero

My choice was clear before Hasselback went down; now it's a crap shoot.

I'll be starting Gabriel this week because of an obscure statistic: although the Vikings are one of the best pass defenses, they are actually tenth WORST against a team's WR1.

I would not say he has been horribly inconsistent. I chalk last week up to Leftwich, who should not have been playing period. There is not much Williams could of done about that. He did have a bad week 3 performance. Other than that he has been very consistent. At least 1 TD in three of four games. At least 4 catches (8 for 95 in the game with no TD).Personally I think he will be fine this week because Garrard is starting. Playing an injured Lefty is bad news for that offense.

I am starting B.Johnson over Williams as my #3 WR. I think both could have good weeks but Johnson has been better week to week

Just curious, who are the Jags #3 and #4 WRs?

Seems they would be the ones Garrard would have the best rapport with since he has been playing with the 2nd team all year. Also should have good communication with MJD.

Im not saying, I'm just saying.......

I'm split between Reggie Williams or Antonio Bryant. Bryant versus the Bears in CHI or Reggie with an inexperienced QB versus a lesser pass defense. The more I think about it, the more I'm thinking Williams is the option, but based on a "lesser of two evils" analysis.

I'm stuck between Reggie Williams, Chris Henry, and Terry Glenn. I think Romo hurts Glenn more than Garrad hurts Williams, but Henry is the x-factor. I'm back and forth, and probably will be up until the time I leave for work tomorrow morning. However, leaning towards Williams.

Garrard is a good backup he managed to put up 200+ against indy san fran and clev. in 6 games of action. Eagles secondary has been giving up some yardage but I do not think these guys WR's will be worth the start. I expect heavy blitzing and I also think Garrard will be running around for yardage not staying in the pocket and trying to find open WR's like Williams and Wilford.

im gonna start reggie this week (over Bryant and Mason) because of byes and lamont's back. can't say i'm real happy about it, but i dont think he can do any worse than last week :X

Also those thinking about starting these WRs need to check out the weather in Philly they are calling for 20-40+wind gusts. I know stranger things have happened in fantasy football. However they have a backup coming in to play in a game where the weather will be a factor against a team that likes to blitz. I will be highly suprised if these guys are worth the start. I would only consider starting these guys if you had no one else availible and that includes waiver wire players. Someone like Arnaz Battle may be able to give you stats similar to these guys.

Wilford was Garrard favorite target over the last 5 games last season.
hmm. :)
Just for the record.....Wilford averaged 2.8 catches and 49 yards (with 2 total TDs) in the 5 games that Garrard started. He actually had better stats in the 5 previous games with Leftwich (3.6/64 with 3 TDs).It was actually Reggie Williams who benefitted the most from Garrard's presence in the lineup -- his stats nearly doubled.

Im starting Williams with confidence. You gotta realize he is there #1 WR right now and its not even close. His 2 bad games were under strange circumstances. Vs Indy they ran the ball nearly the entire game and vs Hou, Leftwich was severely injured. Now with a healthy QB I have no problem starting Reggie.

Just thought I would get the stats from when Garrard was playing last year on here, I'm not sure what to make of it, other than I would think Smith's targets gotta go somewhwere, probably Drew, Williams, and Wilford with more going to Williams becuase he's ben hot this year.:

I am torn between Williams and Eric Parker of the Chargers. Parker has yet to get a TD this year but with the Rams in town I am sure rivers will give Parker ample looks.

FWIW.... in one league i pulled Rhodes from the flex and put in Reg.

with the wind they'll probably be throwing more WR screens to him... but they do that pretty often anyway

WR Matt Jones (inj), Reggie Williams, Ernest Wilford, Cortez HanktonI'd start Reggie Williams over a number of guys, but I'd not feel confident about it.

Wind, Garrard, Philly D is now 100% healthy (so is their offense FWIW). (This doesn't include season-ending injury to Kearse).

Jax will look to run a lot this game.
