Jake Plummer traded to Tampa Bay (1 Viewer)

Gruden will get the most out of Plummer ...whatever that is.
Plummer isn't a bad QB. I'm not sure that he's an improvement over Simms if he's healthy, but assuming they didn't give up much, this is a decent move.If it's for a pick, should we assume we'll be seeing McGahee in Denver soon?

They won't pay McGahee or give up a first day pick!Anyway, so much for all those Plummer and Bell to Houston for the #8 rumors huh?

Plummer and Simms? I expect the "TVs broken by thrown objects" rate to go up at least 50% on Sundays in the Tampa metro area.

The next domino could well be Garcia to the Raidazzzzz

Looks like it is for a 4th rounder

ESPN.com reports that the Bucs and Broncos have an agreement in principle "on most of the elements" of a trade that will send Jake Plummer to the Bucs.

It's believed Denver will receive a fourth-round pick for Plummer. Plummer will land with the one QB guru who could make him relevant in fantasy leagues again. While Chris Simms should enter 2007 as the slight favorite to start in Tampa, Jon Gruden's history with veteran quarterbacks suggests that Plummer has a good chance to play eventually.

FWIW:

Plummer 11 TD 13 INT 68.8 rating

Gradkowski 9/9 65.9

Simms 1/7 46.3 (3 games)

Rattay 4/2 88.2 (4 games)

Depth chart is now Plummer/Simms/Gradkowski

I wish they would have tried to resign Rattay, he played fairly well.

 Has this guy actually seen Chris Simms play?

It won't take more than one pre-season game of Simms passing the ball into the elbows of the opposing team's defensive line...

If Plummer is traded to the Bucs, he will be the starter going into Week 1.

Believed to be for a 4th rounder. Per ESPN TV.
Gotta push up the value of Clayton, Galloway (at least for one more year) and Stovall if this is true. People will say that Jake is not a winner and that he's not a great QB. The fact is he puts up good fantasy points. And look at the last aging vet Chuckie signed? Gannon had a couple of great fantasy years at the tail end of his career.....

Plummer owner and hoping for something a bit better. Guess its better than sticking around in Denver..
Uhhh, Gruden's system made a similar player such as Rich Gannon one of the top FF QB's for several years. This has to be a great situation and wht is better? Houston?

Sweet trade for Denver.

Two thirds and two fourths, both with early selections in each round.

I'm expecting to Denver to probably trade one for another player and then possibly use another to move up in the draft.

Shanny is being very aggressive this offseason.

I really thought Jake would end up in Houston --- which, as season ticket holder --- I was not too excited about. But at this point I'm willing to take anybody not named Carr. Which leaves me equal parts hopeful (that we'll get somebody better than Jake) and depressed (that we'll stick with Carr for another disasterous season).

Gruden will maximize Plummer like Shanny did. I'd expect him to put up numbers similar to 2005 (but about 10% lower) if he starts.

Yea I agree, Plummer fits pretty much the exact mold of what Gruden wants in a QB. If there is a system in the NFL that Plummer can flourish in, this is it. Especially if he's throwing the ball to Calvin Johnson which is still a possibility. Although something tells me he may be gone by the fourth pick

Call me crazy but I think Jake will do well there, I don't buy for a second he's brought in for anything less than to be the starter.

As for Shanny, YOU ROCK! :goodposting:

Does anyone else think that Shanny will send a 3rd and 4th to the Bears for Jones?
I wouldnt rule it out, but he wont come cheap. I just dont see them spending that kind of money on a runningback. Hot rumors right now includes aggressively pursuing Kerney and Graham

NFLN scroll says Schefter is reporting Plummer is expected to retire and trade will be nullified. FWIW.

ETA: Expected, not going, to retire.

I like the move a lot. Plummer fell out of favor, hated it when Cutler was drafted, and probably did not play up to his ability last season. He has gone to the Conference championship, and also quarterbacked the last Arizona Cardinals team to make the playoffs in the last 15-20 years...I think he still has some juice left. The Bucs OL is not great, he's fairly mobile, that will make the OL play better.

If the passing game is an actual threat, the the OL has a chance to block the 5 and 6 guys in fron of them. Bucs had no passing game last season and you could stack the line to shut down Cadillac.

This a great move for the Bucs...it's not a Super Bowl move but it is a step in the right direction for their offense. And really in terms of FF that is all you can expect. The Bucs are going nowhere as far as the post season right now. They are a shell of their former slef on defense now...but a better offense is good for the FF community.

PLUMMER RETIRESAdam Schefter of NFL Network reports that Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer has retired in lieu of being traded to Tampa.Word of the trade broke earlier this morning, but recent published reports suggested that Plummer might pack it in.Plummer has played 10 NFL seasons. We have a weird feeling that, after a year or so on the sidelines, he might be lured back. The Cardinals, for example, will need a backup after Kurt Warner retires, and it would be fitting for Plummer to end his career there.
