Jake Plummer (1 Viewer)

The Denver Broncos, as many of you have seen, have been dominating the AFC because of their defense. What is going on with Jake? At Baltimore, he looked stellar, but against Cleveland, he looked pathetic. He threw up some ridiculous passes, late in the ball game. Up 10 he could have potentially lost the Broncos the game if their defense wasnt ridiculous. Do you guys think Jake will pull it together and lead the Broncos to the Super Bowl? If Jake settles in, in my opinion, the Broncos are the clear cut favorites in the AFC. Much better than the Colts. Any opinions?

Nothing is 'wrong' with him but if you are expecting more than 3000 yards and 18 TD's you might be overvaluing him a bit. 2004 was an anomaly.

He's a lower tier QB that has as many INT's as he does TD's. No way can I see Jake leading Denver to the Super Bowl.

:cool:

it seems that shanahan has pulled in the reigns and with their stout defense is content to win games 13-3 rather than shootouts where plummer may make a horrible mistake and lose the game for them.

plummer is the new trent dilfer.

Until yesterday, that seemed true. Jake threw 41 times yesterday in a game that Denver never trailed and one that never really seemed all that close. That's hardly pulling in the reigns.

what kind of passes were they though?short passes that are akin to running plays?

i didn't see the game, but it seems that plummer is taking less risks than before.

Jake made some absolutely ######ed throws yesterday. He threw a healthy mixture of passes - not just short and intermediate stuff. They went deep more often than they have in recent games. Jake was off target for much of the game, but a lot of that was perhaps (we can only hope) due to a strong wind.

just my opinion, but i think between the conservative playcalling and the hype around Cutler, that Jake's confidence is low right now.

What did his 2 INTs look like? I heard that 1 of them was off of (Rod Smith's ?) hands and deflected into the CB's hands. Were the INTs his fault, or just "bad luck"?

@New England Won 17-7

Baltimore Won 13-3

Oakland Won 13-3

@Cleveland Won 17-7

Just creepy when you look at those scores. That defense has been consistent as anything I have seen in quite some time...but that offense is not doing it much justice.

What's the outlook for Brandon Marshall, who caught not only his first NFL pass, but later got his first TD as well? I jumped for him early in a dynasty league draft.... can he be an impact WR next year?

I love Marshall in dynasty but reasons to temper enthusiasm for 2007:1. Hard worker and physicallly gifted but still fairly raw2. Currently 3rd on depth chart behind Walker and Smith. Smith is nearing retirement, but if doesn't call it quits, Marshall stays at WR3.3. Plummer or a 1st year starting QB (Culter in 2008) will likely limit passing game.

I think the playoff loss to Pittsburgh really affected him. It's one thing to lose to a superior Colts team on the road when you're not expected to win. But after a great season, to lose at home to a (supposedly) inferior team by committing lots of turnovers? It's hard to come back from that, and I don't think Jake is there yet. The way they're winning so far, not much has happened to boost that confidence. Playing a big role in beating Indy this weekend would help.

If Plummer loses to Pitt and Indy and looks bad doing so (2+ picks) he will get yanked. Those are the type of teams he has to beat in the playoffs and if he looks as bad as he has to date I can't see Shanny sticking with him. Shanny will not stick with him if he turns the ball over and causes them to lose.

Regardless of the play calling he hasn't made many good passes or plays. Look at Rivers, they aren't throwing the ball all over. He's got 20 more attempts but nearly 60 more completions, 9 td's to 4 and 3 ints' to 7. Their passer rating is 96 to 60. These are two guys that are in nearly identical situations, great defenses, very good running games, good skill players and one is a "rookie" and one is the "vet". I can easily pick which QB I'd rather have on my team THIS year and it's not Plummer. This is the team that Denver has to face twice still (pretty sure). They have already proven they can win without Plummer so far. If they can't win with him against the teams they really need to beat what do they have to lose?

My interpretation of the 41 pass attempts is that Shanny was trying to turn it up before the big games coming up. Didn't look so hot.

hes terrible. Ive beeen telling people for years hes terrible. Nothing is "wrong" with him hes just bad. I would start Jay Cutler and see if he can a be a catalyst for this offense

He's Jake Plummer, c'mon this is nothing new. He'll look great one game and then look like an NFLE reject.
