Jalen Parmele to be a Raven (1 Viewer)

McGahee has a shoulder problem

Rice has a contusion in his lower leg

McClain is the main man, but could Parmele see some action? I liked him coming out of Toledo, and I would love to see him get a chance. Pittsburgh isn't a great matchup by any means, but let's see what he can do over the final weeks of the season.

Parmale looked very good in the preseason but he wasn't going to push Ronnie or Ricky out of the way so thye cut him. Personally, I liked him a lot and look at some of the Phins that have done really well as rookies this year. 2008 will go donw as one of Miami's best influx of drafted and undrafted players....guys like Devone Bess were undrafted. My point is it seemed Parcells, Ireland, and Sporano were dialed in on this year's crop of talent. I would definitely roster him if you have a deep bench in dynasty.

Miami had him on the practice squad, when did Baltimore sign him? Not seeing it anywhere, yet. Got a link?

i think the 'to be' means it's likely going to happen...anyways, I like Parmele. He got beat out by Patrick Cobbs, but Cobbs has some skills as well. I don't see any long term value here though, once Rice or McGahee get healthy he'll be relegated to insurance policy. Also, likely only to play 2nd fiddle to McClain if they both happen to miss time.

:moneybag: good all around back, decent receiver out of the backfield.

Cecil, this is GREAT information. Thanks so much!

Lets assume he signs. Does he sign for the rest of the year and become an UFA at the end of this season? Balt doesn't really need him long term at this point.

Ravens will take too much of a cap hit if they release McGahee this year -- it will actually cost less against the cap to keep him than to cut him.

He was one of the few players who didn't come to the OTAs under the Harbaugh regime, showed up out-of-shape, and has since battled injuries that have kept him from ever getting into shape.

As a Baltimoron, I am hopeful that he has learned the error of his ways and will show up for all the off-season stuff next year in an effort to erase this disaster of a season. But I'm not holding my breath. When the Ravens signed Grbac, all the KC fans warned us. The same thing happened with Buffalo fans upon acquiring McGahee.

Does Baltimore send Willis packing after the season and roll with Rice, McClain, and Parmalee now?
I could see Baltimore cutting ties with McGahee for 2009.
Which still puts him as the 3rd best RB on the team with almost zero chance at goal-line carries w/o injuries.
dynasty is all about opportunity. He's a guy to hang on to and wait if you have the roster room. I like seeing these diamonds in the rough become household names. I had Rudi Johnson on my team when he was on the Bengals practice squad. several other examples out there. I don't care if he's 3rd string, the guy can ball.

I had Rudi as well before he broke it big, but Rudi had much less competition here. What is really best case scenario for Parmele, honestly? McClain has been very productive and is young and cheap. Rice is just plain better than him. I'd be much more interested if I thought he only had to compete with one of these two backs... best case is only two backs on the team with more talent. He's got talent, but I'd much rather roll the dice with Alridge, C Washington, or Forsette.

Best case scenario? He gets a few touches to end the year and signs somewhere else.

....or Baltimore loves what they see and trade McGahee to say Denver for a 4th rounder at the 2009 Draft just to dump his contract. Then if either Rice or McClain get hurt, Parmele could become the starter.Stranger things have happened.

For example please check under the heading: 2009, Denver Broncos SeasonIf you're in a Dynasty league that is well established, large or with deep benches, Parmele is the type of guy who you might toss on the bench as a wait and see. Nobody has run away with that job yet. I wouldn't grab him assuming he starts day one, week one, but he's worth a flier.

I think its highly unlikely he remains a raven, hopefully he gets picked up by Washington after he shows some flashes here with Rice and McGahee banged up.

There's no news locally that Rice is banged up.
They have been talking about a lower leg contusion for a couple of days - From rotoworld:

In his Monday press conference, Ravens coach John Harbaugh called Ray Rice "day to day" with a contusion in his lower leg.

"Everyone's day to day," Harbaugh said, laughing. He also confirmed that Willis McGahee suffered a stinger Sunday night. All members of the team's three-headed monster figure to be active for Week 15 against the Steelers.
edited to add - that's not to say it's remotely serious or results in any missed snaps but the whole backfield has been banged up off and on.

Players are laughing at the question. Rice is fine from their perspective. I'm getting this from local radio shows that have players as co-hosts. There's nothing to this according to them. It's all speculative because Rice was hit hard and left the game Sunday Night. I'm taking that as he is fine and will be a good NFL RB2 / CoP back for the Ravens against Pittsburgh. Then again, this is Steeler week for them - their biggest game of the year - so any misinformation they can feed to the media would be fair game.

Sounds like college football rivalry week!Nothing like a little bad blood to keep it fun! :goodposting:

umm if you mean in sheer number of those ahead of him, i'd agree, but if you mean talent-base i'd disagree, Dillon was a monster - nothing about the talent of Rice/McClain/McGahee is off the board special

Dillon was a malcontent much worse than chad johnson though. I hope he signs with Washington in the offseason is what Im hoping for, and after Portis goes on IR or becomes EDGE he'll be in good shape.

I just can't see McGahee as part of the mixin Balt in 2009. His best days may be behind him.As far as Parmele goes, I don't think he'll play a major role.

This guy is getting some action working as #2 in Jax behind Jennings and flying under radar. If MJD holdsout for a while he could have some value and finally catch his break
