Jamaal Charles ranking (1 Viewer)

Due to not having any idea which Baltimore back to plug in this week,I picked up Jamaal Charles, expecting him to see the full load this week. When I looked at Dodds/Nortons rankings I see they only have Jamaal carrying 13 times,I glanced further down the list and seen Kolby projected for 9 runs,I understand there was an oversight and they forgot to remove Kolby from their projections, but is it believed Jamaal would get the extra carries or would they be distributed elsewhere?

for what it's worth, from RTSports:

Nov 3 2008 01:56PMKent Babb, of the Kansas City Star, reports Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles is expected to start the team's Week 10 game. However, head coach Herman Edwards said Charles doesn't have the size or experience to rush the ball 20 times a game. The team will have to at least occasionally use RB Dantrell Savage and RB Jackie Battle.
I'm still rolling with him as my last flex starter this week.

Maybe not but he can definitely carry the ball 20 times in one game. I expect him to get the full workload this week but if KC doesnt get LJ back next week then perhaps a share of carries going forward.

Obviously how much Larry Johnson plays when he returns from suspension will dictate a lot of Jamaal Charles' value, but you don't rush for 100 yards against that Bucs defense without having some amount of 'it'. I like him in a potential CJ3 type role down the stretch, and in a league where RBs are at a premium certainly would want him on my bench for depth.

I think Herm wants to see Savage a little bit. I was asking a guy that covers the Chiefs and he felt similarly. His name just pops up here and there in a couple press conferences lately. I would start Charles. I would only expect Savage to get a little action and it wouldn't concern me if I were a Charles owner. Seems like Herm is just curious and his season is at a point where he can give some guys an opportunity they may not normally be able to give.

:headbang: He looked really good against the Bucs last week. Even if he only gets 15-18 carries.. he will also catch a few passes so you're looking at about 20 touches.. What more can you ask for out of a waiver wire RB this late in the season..

I'm having a tough time figuring out his value going forward the rest of the season and FF Playoffs compared to guys like BenJarvis Green-Ellis and Kevin Smith. I just gotta think LJ will take 80% of his carries come week 11. Am I nuts here?

If they're 1-8 they might just go with the rookie.

nah. LJ will get 90% of carries as always no matter what there record is.
I don't think they like LJ very much these days.

Herm's a moron (duh). He gave Charles 18 carries last week, and that was with Smith getting 10 to begin the game with, and there aren't too many run defenses better than the Bucs'. Complete idiot.

Any who watched the entire KC/TB know roughly who many times KC used the wildcat formation with Charles?

From reports I saw, he got a 16 yard gain on 1st try with it and was used for the Bradley TD pass play too. Seems like this is a nice gimmick but doesn't last too long in follow-up games (see Ronnie Brown vs NE) and am curious if Charles' yards vs TB was partly/mostly because of the wildcat formation throwing TB off. A rookie RB getting 100+ yds with KC OL vs TB D seems odd to me.

I own Charles in a few leagues and just trying to not get too excited (yet)

TIA

A little curious that Charles didn't have any passes thrown his way last week. He definitely was impressive running the ball, but I don't know if I can plug him in over Ray Rice this week.

I have some concerns about Charles along these lines too. The Chiefs have been running something more like a college offense recently, and some of Charles carries look almost exactly like the ones he got in the zone read at Texas. You also have to take into account that the Chiefs scored 24 points in the first half last week and staked themselves to a huge lead. Lastly, Charles also had a weak fumble that was reminiscent of his fumbling problems at Texas - it was deep in his own end and mainly caused by not having the ball secured. The very next play, TB scored and pulled within 5. Charles had a pretty epic stretch of fumbles at UT, and there's no guarantee it won't pop up again.
