Jamaal Charles Thread: Hall of Famer? (2 Viewers)

Not a Davis owner here, but a Charles owner. Thinking of grabbing McKnight this week so I can roll the dice on an active Charles. If he's scratched, plug in McKnight and hope for a couple grabs.
Kansas City Chiefs running back Joe McKnight ruptured his Achilles during practice on Thursday, according to KCChiefs.com.

i'm not seeing any practice reports posted, just that he practiced. any word on whether he was still a limited participant?
Limited per rotoworld
Jamaal Charles (ankle) was officially limited in Thursday's practice.

Charles appeared to be moving well to the reporters in attendance. Coach Andy Reid has already said he expects Charles to suit up for Monday night's game against the Patriots, but his status will be worth monitoring closely over the next 48 hours before you officially re-insert Charles as your RB1. Good sign, but I'd take anything Reid says with a grain of salt. I mean, he's playing Bill Bellichek and the Patriots this week. Don't trust a word he says. We'll know Charles' true status at game time, and not a moment sooner.
Unfortunately maybe not even then. I can see Charles dressing regardless and then getting limited touches.
Normally id agree but i think if you combine what the reporters saw and what the team is saying im 90 % sure hes playing
90%?

The coaches and reporters haven't been saying much of anything ...

General quotes like "Charles practicing" - but what did he do?

"Charles Seems to be moving well" ...What? He either is or he isnt?

Last week ..."Knile Davis takes 1st reps , Charles takes next 2" ... what the hell does that mean? was it a walk through? were those the only 2 reps

Charles practicing but limited ... Inpads? Cutting Hard?

Charles limited again? ... he "seemed to be moving well" a week ago?

They are obviously sheltering Charles from the media ... KC is @ SF next week and on a bye week 6

I think you'll see Charles after the bye

what the reporters are saying are the same things they said last thursday and friday... the only difference is reid said he thinks he play (or something to that effect) earlier this week....

The reddit guy from last week who said it would be Davis over Charles now says Charles is a go, and expects him to be "full strength", estimating a 90%/10% split as long as there is no reinjury.

I pretty much think it's just a guy guessing, but hey, why not add a little fuel to the fire.

Rotoworld:

Jamaal Charles (ankle) participated in Chiefs practice for the third-straight day on Saturday.

All signs point to Charles suiting up against the Patriots Monday night. He may lose a few carries to Knile Davis, but Charles is a locked-in RB1 against New England.

Whoa ...slow down fella ...take a deeeep breath and slowly exhale

At this point, I feel pretty confident that he goes full Monday. The tone from Andy and the media has me thinking it would be a complete shock if he was in a time split or out there as a decoy.

He's going full Monday. The only fear is does he reaggravate the injury.

Yup. All signs seem to point to this being his coming out party. Here's hoping he goes off in a big primetime home game against the Pats. If he lays an egg this week, he will pretty much have earned a seat at the "Bust of the Year" table with Peterson. As the saying goes, it gets late early in the Fantasy Football season.

Any updates on Charles...anyone concerned that he will dress tonight but not get many touches?
I think he'll dress and get a lot of touches, but more concerned that Davis will get a bunch as well.
Has that been mentioned or just a feeling some people have?
common sense would dictate a timeshare until charles is 100% recovered.... i think that is all people are going off of when they suggest timeshare

Nothing has been mentioned, and I don't think Reid would tip his hand anyway.

Mostly a gut feeling given that (1) Charles may not be 100%; (2) Davis has likely earned a bigger role; and (3) even if Charles is fully healthy, Reid may not want to overwork Charles going forward for fear of further injury or overwork.

Reid has never really used RBBC before, but times change and perhaps he has never had a strong of a second option as Davis either.

You gotta be nervous as a Charles owner these days given what has been happening with all the other top 5 RBs taken. Not only are you wanting to see the opportunities, but he's gotta produce as well while also avoiding re-injuring the ankle.

I would not be surprised to see Reid play Charles more in the McCluster/McKnight role this week (not sure if Thomas is active), and let Knile handle the between the tackles work.

If Charles get's his normal workload tonight....he will remind people why he is so good.

It has been a lousy start for him....due to injury...not ability.

One thing that Davis has not been good at is holding onto the ball - has had some fumble issues.

If there is any sort of RBBC, that could tip the favor Charles's way if/when the game is close and in key situations.

6 fumbles on 143 touches is pretty terrible... also there was a PFF article late last week which explained that davis' pass blocking was not good and despite his 30-130-1 game against miami he had a negative PFF grade

I don't see why the Chiefs would play him if he wasn't. Davis has looked great and they've been winning games.
They're 1-2.
Sorry, should have said won a game.
Davis is plenty capable of carrying the load until Charles is healthy and full to go. So I agree that there seems to be little reason to rush him back. The only thing I can think of is that they want NE to have to prepare for him and will really not use him much. I hope not.

Or he's ready to go. From all the quotes this week, the vibe is leabig more towards Charles being 100% than decoy. Everyone in the FF biz has him ranked in the top 5 this week at RB. So their contacts are telling them he's OK.

To me it would be a major surprise if he didn't get the bulk of the carries barring reinjury or Pats running away with it.

Pats pre-game says Charles is active and will likely be covered by Collins for dump down passes.

Davis fumbled twice last week. Charles will get the bulk for as long as this game stays in reach.
