Favorable schedule- check

More carries- check

Where does he rank among fantasy RBs going forward? Top 10?

I think J Charles would fit in group 3... who did I miss?

Where would u rank Moreno, McFadden and P Thomas when they come back?

He hasn't produced third round value thus far, hopefully he pays off the rest of the season. His legs should be fresh.

Depends on how consistently he gets the lions share of the carries. If Charles can get 20 touches per game... he will definitely be a top 5 back going forward. I think that he would be #1 if he got 25 carries a game.

I didn't get to see much of this week's game. His touches went up and KC lost. I hope that doesn't translate to less carries. I had hoped for more from him thus far but hoping he continues to rise into that 2nd tier maybe. TJones is a beast. He was the value pick of the draft last year for me. I think as long as he is healthy it will be a split. If TJ goes down with an injury I think Charles will hit that 2nd tier of RBs.

As an SJax owner, I have a yard time buying he's a tier 2 RB. His lack of TD severely limits his fantasy production. I would swap SJax and McCoy. Charles has a chance to be second tier and even first depending on the number of touches going forward.

Jones is the still the starter and will continue to be so. I can't see Charles being much more that 15th best RB, unless Jones get hurt. I know a lot of FF teams took him in the 2nd and 3rd round, but in reality they over paid for Charles and it's time to move on.

Did you see yesterday's box score? Charles got 19 touches compared to Jones 8.He also averaged 5.4 YPC vs Jones 2.4.

Starter in name only. TJ got 8 carries against the Colts, which on average were good for 2.4 yards and a cloud of dust. Charles got twice as many carries and ran for over twice as many yards on those carries. I watched the game and if anything, he looked even better than that and TJ looked worse.

This.If I'm the Chiefs, I'm feeling good about being in that game with the Colts, but I'm wondering if maybe I had given some of those 8 Jones carries instead to Charles if perhaps a couple of drives would have been prolonged to scoring opportunities. At some point it will be the Charles show. We're getting closer.

Hes the second most exciting RB in the NFL. That said hes small and not terribly strong. He typically goes down on first contact. I think hes better with 15 carries a game. I think more would end up being less with 20+ carries a game for any extended amount of time.

This is not accurate.

A stiff wind was taking him down sunday. A hand, a slight bump, anything. He came close to breaking 3-4 runs, only to be knocked off balance. Did you see sundays game?

If he goes down on first contact and averages 6.5 YPC then every D coordinator he faces should be fired.

I said it before and I'll say it again...once the Chiefs start losing games they will then realize that Charles is their best option. Until then, if it aint' broke...

Why? They usually cant catch him.

Charles is fast, but on contact he curls up and looks wimpy which leads to his fumbles. He needs to toughin up or else he will continue to be an incomplete back. T.Jones will continue to get carries. And I am a Charles owner

While I agree with your point, I think Charles cast as a guy built to handle 25 carries a game is pushing it. TJ provides excellent value and contrast for Charles' style. They just need to start feeding the guy the damn ball. Just not 25 times if you want to see him last the season. As many do, I too think Charles will catch fire before long.

I think he could handle 25 touches per game just as long as they minimized the runs up the middle. Use him more on outside runs and pass patterns...

You can sell me on 25 touches much better than you can the 25 carries. 17-25 touches per game and I say Chaz blows up into Tier 1 status. Haley/Weis must know this, right?!?

His schedule for pretty much the rest of the year is absolutely ridiculous. This matchup vs HOU is probably his toughest of the year.

What Jamaal Charles are you watching? Charles curls up on contact? Are you high?

BTW.... With over 230 touches last year on offense (rushing/receiving).... Charles only fumbled twice. So, not only are you horribly wrong about him "curling up contact" which is completely ridiculous. You are also way off base acting like he has bad fumbling issues. He fumbled on a huge hit yesterday... it happens... and it was his only fumble this year.

Agree with that. Nobody was holding on to the ball after than hit.

He's gotta quit carrying that ball like a loaf of bread. He doesn't secure the ball often enough before contact and he actually fumbled twice yesterday, tho recovered his own fumble (in the air) once. Both times he did nothing to protect the ball before getting hit.

For a RB that lives with one foot in the doghouse with this coaching staff, all he needs to do is give Haley an excuse to limit his touches, and fumbling could be it.

The first almost fumble. Didnt the defender grab his arm just as he was getting the ball?

Most on here know the deal it seems. He's actually a strong runner given his size....he's really good at slipping off a hit and sliding forward for an extra 3 yards. The fumbling was an issue early in his career, then he did pretty well 2nd half of last season and this season (until yesterday). He got drilled on the fumble he lost....lots of guys would have fumbled that ball - credit to the defense. As someone else said, he probably cost himself a TD on the bobble that he was simply carrying loose. He's just too good to completely throw him in the dog house, but he really needs to focus on ball security or we'll continue to see this time share depending on game situations.

No he was actually past the guy, but the defender reached from behind and flipped the ball out of his grasp.

He typically goes down on first contact.
For those of you jumping on this post, keep in mind its not an original thought. Its actually a verbatim quote from announcer Dan Dierdorf yesterday after Charles was knocked off balance with an arm tackle blasting through a hole.A couple facts from 2009 the poster (and certainly Dierdorf) probably aren't aware:
Charles also led the league in Yards after first contact per attempt at 3.6. No one else had 3.5 or above. Charles was top 10 in missed tackles on the season…despite having less than 200 rushing attempts.
Doesn't sound like a guy who goes down easy on first contact, does it?

That play where he fumbled was a ridiculously hard/good hit. He also had a LB on his legs and the safety squared him up. Plenty of RBs would've fumbled that ball including TJ.I'm happy with Charles as my RB2.(Now if only I had a RB2.)

He doesn't. If you've watched him this season, you know that.

What do you think his value is at this point? Would you trade him for someone at the level of LT? I think if carries continue to come in the 15+ range, he can be a solid RB2, low-end RB1. I'm going to try and buy him before his value possibly skyrockets.

I don't see how he's second but to each his own. If he's second then McCluster is third and why should the Chiefs leave one of their best two on the sideline? Those two are going to eat at each other's numbers all season long

If you took him in the 3rd round...as I did...he was likely from the 15th to the 24th RB taken.Right now, he is the 21st RB in my league scoring. I took him as the 16th RB.The value is close at this point. So not sure how that is so much overpaying. He is outscoring quite a few taken above him as well.Yes, we would all like more production...but he has not been completely terrible for that value.

I was about to post this. I think it's hilarious when people say Charles goes down after first contact. How do you even label a player with this after the LED THE LEAGUE in 2009 in yards after first contact. It's baffling :bowtie: Then people saying he has problems with ball security? As many have said, there aren't many backs who would have held onto the ball after that hit he took on Sunday. Jamaal Charles has fumbled 3 times in 240 rushing attempts (2009 + 2010), equating to once every 80 carries. Just for comparison sake, Michael Turner has fumbled 4 times in 271 rushing attempts (2009 + 2010), equating to once every 68 attempts. Adrian Peterson: 6 times in 402 attempts (once every 67 carries). Food for thought.
