Jamal Lewis questionable (1 Viewer)

the Ravens seem to be in the habit this year of listing everyone as questionable on Wednesday, and then uprading or downgrading later in the week based on whether they practice.

The Ravens have listed eight players as questionable -- nobody probable or doubtful. So they may be one of the teams that always lists anybody who is dinged at all as questionable.

That said, Jamal Lewis did not practice Wednesday (thigh), so there may be some concern.

week 1 for example

Ravens | J. Lewis questionable for Week 1 - from www.KFFL.comWed, 6 Sep 2006 15:37:40 -0700Jamison Hensley, of the Baltimore Sun, reports Baltimore Ravens RB Jamal Lewis (hip) practiced Wednesday, Sept. 6, and is questionable for Week 1. Lewis will likely start and says he is ready to go, but head coach Brian Billick will have the final decision.Ravens | J. Lewis upgraded to probable for Week 1 - from www.KFFL.comFri, 8 Sep 2006 19:22:15 -0700Jamison Hensley, of the Baltimore Sun, reports Baltimore Ravens RB Jamal Lewis (hip) has been upgraded to probable for Week 1 and is expected to play.
Ravens | J. Lewis questionable for Week 3 - from www.KFFL.comWed, 20 Sep 2006 16:15:09 -0700Jamison Hensley, of the Baltimore Sun, reports Baltimore Ravens RB Jamal Lewis (hip) is expected to start the Week 3 game and is listed as questionable for Week 3.

if you watch his presser today, you can tell he is intending to play. Billick is just taking it easy with him.

its worth noting that Musa Smith is also listed as questionable with an, arrgghhh, knee.

homers? i dont want one of my favroite late season sleepers to get derailed before he leaves the station

I'd sit him....."questionable" is a Brian Billick way of saying you are too soft! If a player is listed as questionable on another team he "might" dress......but a Billick "Q" is a bonafide pine time listing. :bye:

The Ravens are VERY liberal with that 'Questionable' status. Don't take it too seriously until closer to game day. Then read what the local press says about Lewis.

2 "stone cold locks" for this week:1-Jamal Lewis suits up vs the Brownies this Sunday...he should be good for ~150/12-ravnzfan suits up in all black, wearing "Free the Birds" tee in Sect 382 on Thurs 9/21

i dont feel like looking up the numbers, but seems like Jamal hasnt gone for 150 yards in about 3 years. props on your defense though..

If I could be there for that, I would. I read they're expecting 4-5,000 to take part. Good luck.Back to Lewis, barring anything unforseen you can expect him to play. He thinks he owns Cleveland & would try to play on one leg against them.

If Lewis sits out Musa Smith is the guy...Anderson had only one carry last week. If you have Lewis and Smith is still out there....grab him now!

If this is not a smoke screen* and he's really hurting, I think this bumps McNair's value this week tremendously. Cleveland has two starters in the secondary out and even with them, already given up an average of 245 passing yds a game so far. Lewis could just play decoy all game and somewhat use the week to rest up for a real run-d next week when they go up against SD.

*Lewis was questionable all week then upgraded to probable last minute week 1 vs Cinncy and went on to rush for 78yds and a touch.

ETA: any time Musa is on the field this gives McNair another receiving option. Musa has much better hands than Lewis or Anderson.

ETA2: oops, nevemind. didn't see Musa as questionable and unable to finish practice Thursday.

Musa looking less likely to play this week.

Now for full disclosure: this is coming from Mike Preston, who is a columnist. I'd be much more confident in it's truthfulness if it were someone like Jamison Hensley (ravens beat reporter for the Sun) or even better if it were Aaron Wilson from the Carroll County times. Preston has a habit of trying to stir things up, and he seems to absolutely hate Billick. I can't think of any angle he'd be working here by reporting injuries on his "blog", but you never know.

Reserve running back Musa Smith did not finish practice Thursday, and there seems to be a good chance he won't play against Cleveland Sunday because of a knee injury. It appeared as though Smith had moved ahead of Mike Anderson as No. 2 behind Jamal Lewis, but Anderson remains No. 2 on the depth chart. The injury will halt Smith's progress. He has played extremely well through training camp and the preseason. Fortunately, the Ravens have three quality backs and Anderson will get more work now with Smith hurt, and Lewis still not 100 percent from a hip flexor.

I've read that there is a "good chance" Musa won't play from a few places - either way, he's more dinged up than Lewis, so the team probably would try to limit his carries this week if he suits up.

I like Lewis this week, but I fear with a big Raven lead, Anderson will get alot of carries, as it appears Smith will not play. I think Anderson makes a nice flex/sleeper play this week.

I didn't see any of the game or highlights from BAL/OAK... how did JL end up with 78/0? and Anderson/Smith had 58/1?

:jawdrop: now that's a post baby! impressive...

Lewis listed as questionable means NOTHING! He will start and finish this game with HUGE #'s @ the end....He LOVES playing the Browns and that will NOT change on Sunday

There was a blurb in yesterday's Sun about Musa maybe not playing & ended with something like "meaning Mike Anderson would be the undoubted #2 on Sunday" - the unsaid assumption being that Lewis is starting. I believe Hensley wrote that, but I tossed the paper.Mungo, I'm with you on Preston. I don't know what his feud with Billick stems from, but I don't think I've ever heard him give a compliment to the coach. In fact, he seems to go out of his way to insert criticisms of Billick into his columns. Preston grades each unit after a Raverns game. I believe he'd give Billick an "F" every game, even if the Ravens won 55-0. I'm not the world's biggest Billick fan, but Preston's bias is so evident that you have to take everything he says with a grain of salt. He really should go back to writing about lacrosse & HS football.

Bump up both JLewis and Derrick Mason given the Heap injury.ravenzfan knows stuff, too.
I have to choose between Portis and Jamal this week. I think you'd downgrade Lewis since Heap is questionable because its simply one less option the Browns have to worry about. Lewis will be keyed on since he has toasted this team over and over..I think Anderson plays a decent role today as well. Jamal isn't healthy enough to be an every down back at this point.
