Considering the new scheme in Pitt, how will his numbers play out this year?

I have him and need to determine his value. In my league this past year he finished about #10 amongst all linebackers. 1pt per tackle. .5 per asst. tackle.

Can he repeat the performance? Can he stay in the top 15?

My other two lb's that i am keeping are Ruud ($1) and Poz ($5). there are some good ones available in the auction such as Z. thomas, MPeterson, Witherspoon and possibly Bullock. I have farrior for $11 ($280 cap), but limited roster space. we start 3 LB's. I am starting to wonder if i should waive him and spend my recources on Witherspoon or Bullock (if available).

Tomlin has said publicly that the Steelers will still be a primarily 3-4 team in 2007, at least to begin the year. Assuming his knees don't flare up, and they didn't in 2006, there is no reason to think Farrior won't have another 80 plus solo, 3-4 sack season.

Hey Jene...thanks for commenting. Before posting this i read through all of the other previous items regarding Tomlin and the Steeler's D for '07. I feel as though you were down on Farrior a little in all of your posts. Have you had a change of heart?Roster space is extremely limited for me, and i just want to be sure i allocate my resources appropriately. I imagine Andra Davis will be about $7. Is it worth pursuing him over Farrior because of age and the fact that it is a dynasty league? I had Davis last year and he was extremely disappointing. Or is it worth paying the few extra dollars to obtain Witherspoon in the auction? I think he will be about $18. Maybe i am better off dumping Ruud, what do you think? He is only $1, but what can i actually expect.. i can get someone like Keiho in the draft who will be the same or better.

I don't know that I'm down on Farrior or have had a change of heart. I hope I'm presenting a consistently realistic opinion... :lmao: .I'm still nervous about the knees of a 32 year old that have been issues in the past. And, for the most part, there's really no upside with Farrior. He's not going to rip off a 98 solo tackle year with multiple sacks. Add in the potential scheme change and the likelihood that Timmons is already slotted at WLB and the strong possibility that Tomlin will want a younger MLB to coach up and I'd be leery about Farrior in the long-term.But he's the kind of guy that floats under the radar but will produce when healthy. You may want to ask your team question in the AC Forum. It's getting some decent traffic. I think cap questions have too many variables to answer accurately IMO, but they're still worth discussing. In general, I'd have a hard time dropping a $1 LB with any potential unless you're really squeezed for lineup help. And I always pursue the better talent if the expected cost fits into my cap plan. That depends on all kinds of things, though. It sounds easy to say, but these cap leagues are all about getting the best talent at the best value to you. Sometimes, all you can do is make an educated guess and then decide which alternative is the worst case scenario. Will you have another option if you cut Ruud and don't get Keiaho? Is losing Farrior worth the risk of pursuing Bulluck and missing out on or paying more for him? Those are questions I can't answer. I struggle with them in my own leagues where I feel like I have a decent finger on the pulse of the other owners.I'd like to have Bulluck or Witherspoon and Keiaho more than Farrior and Ruud but wouldn't want to get stuck with two lesser talents or hinder my flexibility under the cap to do roster other positions if that's also an immediate concern. Hopefully, you've got enough information to make that call.

Posting your roster and cap rules will help. It's hard to be general with cap leagues with all of the variables.

I will be general anyways since I don't know enough. I would keep Ruud for $1, he should be respectable, and keep your cap down. Since you have that $1 LB, maybe you can afford to go after a stud like Bullock/Witherspoon. You may be able to get a Mike Peterson a little cheaper because of his injury, or a Zach Thomas because of his age. Look for players with some issue (either real or perceived) that you like and go after them. There are players you can get who will be undervalued.

Farrior is reasonably priced, and should be fine for this year. Beyond that is questionable. As Jene said, the Steelers seem likely to eventually go to a 4-3, in which case Farriors role will be in question.

Thanks for all your help. I just traded Farrior for a second round pick in next years rookie draft. This is a risky trade on my part, but it should give me the flexibility that i am looking for. Once again, the footballguys forum comes through in the clutch giving prudent advice.
