James Hardy (1 Viewer)

James Hardy, WR, Buffalo Bills Wednesday 11/11, 3:31 PM CT

ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that the Bills have activated wide receiver James Hardy to the 53-man roster. Hardy has not played this season due to knee surgery.

Our View: Today was the deadline to activate Hardy or place him on IR, so it looks like the team feels he is ready to play. He has the tools to be a productive player in the NFL, but until he proves he can produce, fantasy owners should not be concerned with him.

Thanks.

they waived RB Xavier Omon to make room for him.
Aaron, what do you think of Hardy's chances fi Owens is out due to injury this week?
I think Steve Johnson is probably ahead of him still. Tough to say how much playing time they'll give him when he hasn't played all year.
I'd say Johnson is way ahead. Hardy is still very raw and needs to become a better route runner. I remember going to the IU @ Wisco game his last season at IU, and they shaded a safety to help double him. He ended the game with something like 2rec/20yds. He definitely has the size to be a huge target in the redzone, but there's no way in hell I'd be comfortable to start Hardy in any format until he proves himself otherwise.

Couldn't agree more. Hardy showed nothing last year. I was really disappointed in his play. I'll be surprised if he catches more than a few passes this year (barring injuries.)

also, Hardy missed the entire offseason/preseason while recovering from a torn ACL. he's only been practicing for a few weeks after starting out the season on the PUP list.

would be amazing if he made a significant contribution right away.

what about his long term outlook? I don't know much about him but just picked him up in a dynasty sort of on a whim.

well, he didn't look very good last year but that happens to a lot of young WRs. tough to evaluate him when nobody has seen him play in a year but there were lots of high hopes when he came out of college. worth a flyer I suppose if people have a roster spot, but don't expect it to pay off until next year most likely.

I would think even the year after for something truly noticeable in terms of production. That would be his "third year", if one subscribes to that theory. Johnson looked pretty decent in limited action last year, so I would think he gets first stab after Owens vacates this year.

If you're in a dynasty league and you've got an extra roster space, i'd pickup Hardy.

Hardy will have little trouble passing Stevie Johnson imo. Wasn't Stevie inactive for the first 6 or so Bills games despite being healthy?

I thought he was getting a few looks last year in the red zone before he got hurt  He's definitely worth a dynasty roster spot for sure.

neither contributes much to special teams and the Bills have not run many 4WR sets this year so Roscoe Parrish got to play in those games. Even though he's one of the best punt returners in the league, the team started leaving Roscoe inactive just to get Johnson in some games.
