James Jones (1 Viewer)

the spanker

I hear all of this talk about James Jones but what about Jennings?

Has anyone managed to take advantage of all of the Jones talk and stash Jennings on the bench until the time is ripe to eat a few guppies?

James Jones has flashed potential but come on Jennings should excel if he gets healthy right?

Come on guys I know someone has made a shark move to acquire Jennings during all of the Jones hype. Do you agree that Jennings will make a great impact on the Packers passing game once he returns?

I just don't agree with all of the Jones hype. When Jennings returns Jones values diminishes.

Am I wrong here?

Bump this for any GB homers out there. I drafted Jennings but Jones is on the WW. Does Jennings get his starting gig back when healthy or did Jones take the job?

I like Jennings but the longer he's out the more difficult I believe it will be for him to get his starting job back or make a significant impact from a fantasy perspective. If he keeps missing games and Jones keeps playing well I don't see how McCarthy can give the job back to Jennings. Though it's important to note that the Packers will run enough 3-WR sets that it doesn't matter a great deal who the actual starter is opposite Driver. Both the No. 2 and No. 3 WR will be on the field quite a bit.

Thats right. The 3rd WR can put up better numbers that the other 2 when Favre throws 40 times a game.

it's not a new topic by any stretch and since there are a number of other threads already on this topic, the # of replies you received was fairly low.If you search first, you'll find the responses and/or info you want much quicker and it's best for everyonetrying to be constructive

I drafted James Jones late, but dropped him for Jennings last week when the Jennings owner gave up. Jones is still out there, but it's a nervous situation for me. I simply can't hang on to two WRs that are fighting for the WR2 spot on one NFL team...

I'm hoping that I'm betting on the right horse in this case with Jennings, as a 2nd year guy. But, Jennings does need to get back, and make it quick.

Agreed. Jennings does need to get back - quickly. Favre likes Jones' potential but he has a comfort level with Jennings. Favre raved about him all last year. Let's not dismiss the idea that Favre has major input on who he wants starting. For this reason I like Morency to take over as starter when and if he is healthy.

Has Favre been backing Morency?

Other than Driver, I don't think Favre cares who is on the field at WR as long as the guy runs good routes and can catch the ball.

Recently, Favre said this about Morency - "He is as quick as any running back I've ever played with," Favre said. "Hopefully if Vernand plays, he gives us a spark." Morency's pass blocking and ability to run has not been questioned. Favre doesn't want to stay out there with rookies who can easily miss assignments. In my opinion, given Favre's age it is necessary for the team to win now and not experiment. Learning on the job is not something Favre wants his RBs to do at this stage of his career.

Yes it has. Morency is not regarded as being a good pass blocker. McCarthy's quote about him was that he was "OK." Hardly a raving endorsement. The best RB on the roster this season in terms of pass blocking was Herron but he's gone for the year.
