James Starks? (1 Viewer)

It appears to be RBBC... but who has the edge in this one?
I could see the packers using them both and giving more carries as the season goes on to the one who is performing better. Grant is coming off a year with no football, so I could see them working in a committee with Starks until one shows he is the better runner/blocker/player rather than naming THE guy right away.I don't really believe either one holds too much value unless he can beat out the other guy or another succumbs an injury (not wishing this for either one)I think they are both about average, and will not blow a game out of the water but they are the type of runners I like on my team because they are consistent (if given the share of carries). If one of them does end up getting a larger share of the carries, or all of the carries, by years end... they will have been a huge steal at their ADP in my opinion (especially Starks)If you own both I think you are in a really good position. If I owned only one, I'd probably want Starks because I think he can be had a lot later in most drafts and could put up decent numbers if he wins the job.I would hate to spend a middle round pick on Grant after he's been away from football for a year.

I'm a Starks dynasty owner, yet I still think Grant is likely the lead back in the RBBC, for now anyway. IMO, for this season, this will only change if one or more of these hit:

1) Grant struggles

2) Starks performs far better than Grant (even with Grant playing ok)

3) Starks stays relatively healthy (seems to be an issue for the young man)

IMO, there are decent odds that Starks could wrestle away the lead RB role this year, but I believe that Grant is the guy right now.

Starks is the guy to own here. I thought it would take a few weeks but I now think he is going to be the lead dog almost immediately. He is the better back.

Roto, hour ago:

According to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Ryan Grant "hasn't looked like his old self" in training camp.

Silverstein's colleague, Tyler Dunne, had a similar take Thursday, stating that Grant has been outplayed by James Starks. Though Grant can still pound it between the tackles, his pre-injury burst hasn't been there this summer. In fact, Silverstein suggests rookie Alex Green is "right on his heels." It's time to move Grant down draft boards with Starks and Green moving up

Tonight's game should be telling. I'd love to see Starks explode tonight. For either of these guys to hold much value IMO, one will have to beat out the other and become as close the sole back as possible.

Neither?

(edit- hit the enter key accidentally) GB has the 2nd to last amount of fantasy points by running backs last season... with less than HALF what the best teams had. Packers are a passing team with several viable backs to split touches between. I dont want to think about who will be getting the limited touches between Grant, Stark, Green, Nash, and Kuhn. Or they go shopping mid-season again. Unless one of those guys fell way down to me where i couldn't resist the value for a RB4 I don't think i'll see any of them on my rosters.

Brandon Jackson, John Kuhn, and James Starks (as a rookie who missed camps and preseason and was coming off a major injury) is a heckuva lot different than Ryan Grant (pre-injury self or no), James Starks (with a full offseason- at least, as full as the circumstances allowed), and Alex Green. I expect Green Bay RBs to dramatically outperform their piss-poor showing from last year.

Good news for Starks owners. Ryan Grant didn't look that great and do anything to win the job. Good news for Grant owners. Starks didn't look that great and do anything to win the job.

...... Pure RBBC with little value till one guy takes over with how efficient rodgers is in the passing game.
