"Jared Allen is relentless" (1 Viewer)

What a game. 4.5 sacks is unreal. Most in Monday Night Football history. Gruden loves that relentless word.

Cameron Wake next monday will be relentless as well.

What a football player! If I could have my pick of defensive players to make an All-Star team, Jared Allen may very well be my 2nd pick behind Nnamdi Asomugha.

Green Bay started the game with screens to try to slow him down and often had packages with 2 sometimes 3 players in the backfield to help chip and max protect.

Did not matter.

Jarred Allen only has one speed. Full speed. Fat Pat and Kevin Williams just maul your inside linemen so they won't be helping.

That rookie could not handle Allen in this game. Even with help. Allen is a great player but this performance was not all about him. Green Bays protection was a liability as well.

Great defensive end, but, all things considered, this is one of the least impressive 4.5 sack games of all time (which is sort of like being the dumbest member of MENSA). Pat and Kevin Williams drawing attention, facing a rookie tackle making his first start on an offensive line that was already terrible (Green Bay had allowed the most sacks in the league coming into week 4, and they've only solidified their hold on the lead). Minnesota as a whole had 8 sacks.

Still a great game by Allen, and not meant as disrespect, but if you translate this to a performance against an actual NFL offensive line, this is the equivalent of a 2.5 sack game. JMHO.

i'd call it the equivalent of a 1.5 or 2.0 sack game against any other O-Line in the league.

Subtract at least one sack for Aaron Rodgers refusing to throw at the feet of his TE/RBs to avoid a sack.

I thought Rodgers played great. For the most part. But yes he did take the sack instead of just throwing it away at least once.

more then one but the most obvious was the safety when he had donald lee three feet in front of him ... dont even have to complete the pass just avoid the sack.He has a tendency to try to make plays happen when it just isn't going to work out.

That is what pressure does to a QB. They make poor decisions. Any QB. Favre did not have this problem today.

I honestly think my Chiefs would be in a better spot today if they would have dumped Peterson and signed Allen long term. The pieces that KC got with the picks just arent worth what we lost. Sure Albert is a decent tackle....but Allen is a beast. One of my fav Chiefs. I have always root for the Vikes and the Falcons now since they have the 2 of hte best KC players of the 2000's.

Great game on a big stage. His hustle tackle 20 yards downfield was as impressive as any of his sacks tonight.
:goodposting: If the rest of the team played with the same type of intensity, they'd be unstoppable.
It was actually nearly 40 yards downfield (a 37-yard gain). That combined with Favre's block of Patrick Willis 45 yards downfield last week were both very impressive hustle plays. Combine them with Antoine Winfield's intensity and they've got some of the most high-intensity players in the league.

Yup taken all this into account, he actually had a bad game.

Lang did not start. He came in when Colledge was injurred. And Colledge had already given up a sack and a half or so.

Id say at least one as well.2 of the first 3 were on him...though, one was not Allen. LB I think when Rodgers got outside to his left and ran right into him. There was at least 1 or two more I thought he really held on too long including the safety.

Stats were certainly padded against the what is currently a poor excuse for an offensive line, but I'd take Allen over 99% of the DE's in the NFL. I loved listening to his radio show when I was working in Kansas...

EDIT: Nobody is going to dominate Joe Thomas, but Allen only has to face a tackle like that once or twice a year.

He single handedly beat me last night, in a game that I thought I had all but wrapped up...... went off for 32 points and I lost by 2....
Me too. I'm up by around 10, with Adrian Peterson playing last night and my opponent had Allen. I wasn't worried until quarter 4...then the bottom fell out. Most unbelievable loss I've ever had. Oh well, move on.

who would win? Jared Allen vs. Chuck Norris.
I'm not sure who would win this one, but I know I'd take Joe Thomas to kick Jared's butt. Just watch Vikings vs Cleveland this year. Jared did not get a sack....don't believe he got a qb pressure. Big Joe Thomas dominated him.
Yes, because Joe Thomas is really good. Converted guard Daryn Colledge and rookie TJ Lang are not good. What's your point? Allen played a whale of game.

Elvis Dumervil dominated Joe Thomas.

Did anyone notice the sheer mass of Allen's head last night when he had his helmet off? Almost bobble head proportions.

I'm not saying, I'm just saying.

Allen had actually dropped in to pass coverage on the play, so he was already ~15 yards downfield.I, on the other hand, still hate Jared "Built Tough Pickup Trucks" Allen. I will refer to him exclusively as BTPT from now on.

Well, you're right, but that midget gives every giant T he faces problems!"Did anyone notice the sheer mass of Allen's head last night when he had his helmet off? Almost bobble head proportions. Daryn Colledge started at left tackle, moving from guard to replace clifton. rookie TJ Lang took over for colledge when he went down with an injury. lang didnt start. barbre lang and colledge are going to make every DE they face look good week in and week out

Rotoworld:

Free agent Jared Allen left his second Seahawks visit without a contract, but expects to decide on his future this weekend.
Allen is believed to be on the verge of a deal with Seattle, but leaving town to mull over his options could result in a few extra bucks thrown his way. The Seahawks are still the heavy favorites for his services.
