Jason Allen, Miami's first-round pick in 2006, will change positions from safety to cornerback as he tries to bounce back from a disappointing rookie season.
Allen played both positions in college at Tennessee.
"It's one reason they drafted me because of my capability to play either position," he said. "I have to get back in the mode of a corner."
After being drafted 16th overall, Allen held out during training camp. Once he arrived he failed to make the impact expected of a first-round pick.
"I wish it didn't happened," Allen said of the holdout, "but I can't look back."
It's not clear, but it's probably safe to assume Allen will compete with Will Allen to start opposite Travis Daniels. If Allen can show decent ball skills, he's solid enough in run support to be a valid CB2 in CB specific leagues.
