Javon Walker injured (1 Viewer)

After five rounds of our draft, my team included Dillon, Ju. Jones, Steven Jackson, A. Green, and K. Collins. 10-team league with all-shark owners so I ended up taking Green and Jackson merely because they slipped. So, halfway through the draft, I swapped Jones for Javon Walker (both second round picks) since my best WR at that point was D. Branch. This trade cost me the game today -- I would have started Julius Jones (over S. Jackson) and Keywshawn (in Walker spot) -- hopefully not the season. arrgh. :wall:

If Walker goes down for the year or any length of time, as a Packer fan all I can hope for is that the Ahman Green/Najeh Davenport/Tony Fisher show begins. Power run team that could easily lead the league in rushing if they give these guys a chance to shine. WR's aside and utilize them in a way such as KC does theres but Green Bay needs to look at this power run option.

It was amazing to watch Sherman go away from the run today even though Green was averaging almost 5 yards a carry. The play calling was pathetic.

The big difference is KC line > GB line... by a lot. They may have to go this route anyways with Favre, while still a good QB, not being the guy he once was and their top playmaker down for the count.

Run, run, run and then play action to Driver/Ferguson.

Maybe.

This is what I am saying. Doubters aside, the OL was decent today with their run blocking. Pass blocking not so good but not bad either. Many opportunites were lost today, oh well, its one game. Run blocking is easier to learn then pass blocking for an OL and they all need a crash course in it this coming week. The three-headed monster needs to return and in a big way me thinks. Hopefully this theory gets to the heads of the Packers as they will live by the run and die by the run more then ever now.

I'm hoping for the best for Walker - hate to see a good receiver go down, whether he's on my team or not. He isn't, but Favre and Driver are. The number of targets for Driver should increase, but overall yardage may go down because (in agreement with the above) the Pack have three decent and then some backs.

At the packers website both new Guards were players of the game. No sacks til garbage time and as you said high average for Ahman. For all the flack they took, kudos to those guys for today

I have to half-heartedly disagree here. While unity and experience in a line equal something... a run block scheme is easier to work on then a pass blocking scheme. KC's line is not the best pass blocking line either but they are a good run block lline. Green Bay's line is not that bad but today they were in a passing game because they could not move the ball through the air. While to might disagree with me, the Green Bay line is still one of the better ones in the game. The defense and constant penalities on both sides of the ball did them in today.

Watching Fastest 3 Minutes...saw ticker on bottom GB (will miss remainder of the season) but didn't see the player  ...who did it say...was it Walker? Can't think of any other Packers hurt?

If this has already been posted i apologize as I only quickly skimmed through the tread, but during the halftime show tonight the ESPN ticker stated that Walker IS expected to miss the remainder of the season (again sorry if :honda;)

This sucks...happened to me last year with S. Smith and now this....
Patience -- nothing has been 100% confirmed yet. I don't have Walker on any teams, but I'd hate to see a talent like his lost after 1 game.

shims3, I lost both Steve Smith (broken leg) and Charles Rogers (broken collar bone) in week one last year and it killed me. Granted Rogers was still unproven, but possibly poised for a breakout year, but losing Smith really killed me. To add insult to injury, even though I lost in week one, the Buzzards (another team in the league who had no injuries) lost his game too but he scored 92 points in his loss and I scored 93 in my loss. He got the first waiver position, snagged Gates and went on to win the title. Meanwhile my team who really needed Gates to replace Smith went on to lose 11 straight. It sucked. I weathered the 2004 storm (even making some trades and waiver moves to try to mix it up and get some wins), but I was snake bitten. I lost games by .4 points and .7 points as well as 2, 3 and 5 points.I was looking forward to 2005 being a "bit" different, but alas...different year....same crap. :wall:

Oh well.....what can you do....#### happens. I'm sure the other GMs in the laegue are happy it's not them.

Now I'm delerious. Thanks for reading. I guess I hear the world's smallest violin playing now...boo-hoo for me.

:violin:

Murphy is expected back next week according to a Packer's board I go to. He was quite impressive in camp, but I don't see how he'd jump over Ferguson. Driver's value is a bit higher but I think the real beneficiary will be Ahman Green. Ferguson, from here on out should be good for 900 yards and 6-8 tds, I would think. He's got some game, but is not as gifted as Walker or as well versed and tough as Driver.

So who does this bump more, Fergie or Murphy?
Ferg. Murph is a hurt rookie
What's his injury?
Sprained Knee ligament, was listed as probable according to Sunday's Milw. Journal-Sentinel.This kid was turning heads in camp prior to calf and knee injuries. It remains to bee seen what he can do against live bullets. Yet Bob Ferguson isn't too durable (Viva!) himself.......

Even if somehow the MRI is negative (which at this point seems to be a small chance), he still will likely not see the field for some time...And all you guys high on Fergie, time will tell, but I would not be expecting the world. He complained in the offseason about wanting to be a bigger part of the offense - but when he has had opps, he has not made much of them. With that said, he is certainly I guy I would look to add and stash on my bench to see what he can do...

He should have held out.
:goodposting:
Yeah, I don't think anyone should be questioning a player holding out after a blow up year. Javon Walker was way underpaid for his position considering how well he played for the Pack last year. Then when he holds out people said he wasn't being a team player. Well now that he is out for the season I doubt GB will step up and get him a new deal. Yet Walker was the bad guy for holding out  Players should get what they can while they can get it in this business. You just never know when one of those rubberbands in your knees will snap.

Great idea of me to acquire Favre to go along with Walker (whom I already had) for the hookup. Figured they were going to have to throw a lot this year, and I would benefit twofold.Even funnier, is that I'm usually against the strategy but took a shot this year. Guess this is what I get. Brees as my backup QB and now instead of starting Walker and Wayne I have to go to either Wayne and Evans or Wayne and Reggie Williams. Also have to start contemplating starting Brees over Favre some games I suppose.Sigh.

As a Viking fan, in 15 years of FF, I've never had a Packer, until this year. I got Walker early and handcuffed him with Farve late. I shall now bend over and take it up the a**. :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: One more reason for me to hate the Packers...For all of you who think Driver's stock is on the rise, TRADE HIM NOW! He is not a #1 receiver and will receive #1 coverage. Find a rube in your league to dump him on.

Hah, glad to hear I'm not the only sucker who drafted Steve Smith last year and Javon Walker this year. Just remember, when you consider ALL the skill positions you could be hurt at, there is always a breakout receiver each year. Just pay attention to our beloved boards and FBG email, and we'll bag the next big thing to make up for it. No sweat, week two commeth! :)

I wonder, this may wind up costing Sherman his job too. It's the last year of his contract I believe. He's got a good record, maybe he'll replace Holmgren again.
