Broncos beat writers are already calling for Jay Cutler to start.Jake Plummer threw three interceptions in Sunday's regular season opener. Expect Plummer to get at least a few weeks to turn it around.Source: Denver Post
Any chance Cutler starts this year? Would he be worth starting?

He looked very good in the preseason, and the backup quarterback is always the media darling. The Broncos are a playoff team, so they won't put him in "for the experience". The Broncos staff watches the film, so they know if the lack of success was Plummer's fault or not.Everyone has a bad day. But if the Broncs have 5 losses before they have 3 wins, you'll see Cutler.

I think Plummer's bad day is more a testament to the improved STL D than anything else. STL looked pretty darn good on D.

I live just outside of Denver....I am not a Bronco fan.....I am a Chiefs fan.....

Cutler will be in sooner then later...........

HOWEVER......UNFROTUNATELY FOR CHIEFS FANS, I CAN ALMOST GUARANTEE YOU THE ENTIRE BRONCO TEAM WILL GET HEALTHY AGAINST THE CHIEFS NEXT WEEK.....

and that will bye Plummer a couple of more weeks.....

Cutler is the real deal, and everyone knows it (including Shanahan), and that is scary to me as a Chief fan for the rest of my life...I honestly think even though he is a rookie, he gives the Broncos the best chance to win this year....Shanahan is all about winning and it won't take him long to pull the trigger...

Jake is the worst possible situation.....he knows he won't be here next year and he has a young stud breathing down his neck....and unfortunatly for Jake, he does not have it in him to play without looking over his shoulder.....

Cutler starter by week 5 if not sooner...

get him now if he is still avalable...

I listen to alot of Denver sports radio. The majority believe he is a better QB, but just not ready since he is a rookie, but will most likely have the job next year. If the Broncos season goes south, I can see him starting by the end of the year, or if Plummer has a couple more ugly games.

In practice, people say it is clear that he has a better arm and makes good decisions. They are very happy with him.

Plummer is seen as a good QB when you are ahead, he can manage the game well, but he can't handle the pressure of being behind and tends to make stupid decisions. He had a good year last year because they were rarely behind.

Cutler will see time in Denver blowouts, and if Denver is eliminated from the playoffs. Other than that, I expect it to be the Plummer show all year long.

Hold your horses peeps:

Former Broncos quarterback Gus Frerotte stood outside the Denver locker room after the game and greeted several former teammates. Frerotte and Smith spoke for several moments. Frerotte, who played in Denver from 2000-01, considered signing with the Broncos the past two offseasons.

If Plummer keeps playing like this they'll be out of the playoffs halfway through the season.

cutler said in a local interview last night that he wasn't close to being ready to implement a game plan like the one the broncos took to st. louis.

Why should we hold our horses for Gus Frerotte? He's a St. Louis Ram. What's he gonna do... grab a metal folding chair and bash Bulger over the back, then while laughing maniacally rip off his Ram uniform to reveal a retro Elway jersey? Frerotte played for the Broncos and I am sure he still has friends with the organization, so I don't think anyone should read anything more into this other than "my current team beat my former team, so it's ok to stop by their locker room afterwards and shake hands and give them some good-natured ribbing."

INT's, Fumbles, and terrible blocking (esp by the Bells picking up the blitz) is not too tough of a gameplan to implement.

Well then, if you expect Plummer to turn the ball over 4 times a game every week, then it'd be smart to start grabbing Cutler in your leagues.

Okay, Plummer did not play well, but anyone who watched that game knows that the pass blocking was their biggest problem. Joe Montana would have had a tough time having a good game yesterday with pass blocking like that.

Blasphemus to even mention Jake Plummer and Jesus in cleats in the same sentence...

Easy tiger. Gus must have been one of the five players I didnt follow during the offseason. I thought he was a free agent. I hope as "Gus Frerotte Fan Club President", you take the liberty to offer my apoligies to the other three members for misrepresenting Gus.

Plummer has horrid games like this about 1-2 times a year. For fantasy owners, at least, it's no reason to panic.

They're not putting Cutler in this year...unless they're 3-12. They won't be. Relax.

Another example of an off the wall thing happening, but getting a ton more press because it's Week 1.
