Jerious Norwood: Time to cut bait? (1 Viewer)

Back in August, I took a draft flyer on Atlanta's Jerious Norwood at 11.11 as a RB5 with high upside. By this point in the season, I was sure he would have supplanted Warrick Dunn entirely, or at least staked out a productive niche as goal-line back.

In reality, he's seen limited action since his knee injury, and is buried on my bench. Dunn keeps getting all the carries, and Vick the goal-line TDs. I've only seen the Falcons on TV once this season, and I dont follow the team closely.

I'm looking to position before the fantasy football playoff roster freeze, and I could use his roster spot. In a redraft league, is it time to send Norwood packing?

If they don't make the playoffs (which I'm gonna go ahead and say they aren't), he could wind up being showcased. If you can afford it...I'd hold a couple more weeks to see how things pan out in ATL.

I dumped him a week ago, to prepare my roster for the playoffs. I have held onto him since the draft hoping that he might get an opportunity and to no avail. I think in a re-draft league it's safe to cut bait ONLY if you are getting some of good value in return, which might be difficult at this point in the season.

I hadn't even considered that scenario. Thanks.[bump]

I considered dropping Norwood this week, but decided against it. WW alternatives were guys like Fargas, Harris, Wright.

I'm never going to start any of those guys, so I'd only switch for blocking purposes.

In the end I decided that I'd much rather face one of those WW guys in the playoffs than Norwood, if for some reason Dunn is out of the picture. That latter scenario could be disastrous. I have a hard time believing playing against Fargas etc. will be a disaster. In fact if my opponent is down to those options, I like my chances.

The only reason Norwood is still on my roster is b/c of the possibility Atl drops out of the playoff hunt. As stated above, if that happens, Norwood may see more time on the field. Pu it this wasy: I am hoping for a Saints victory this week...

I agree with that post.

Norwood will get a lot of opportunities soon, as the Falcons fade continues.

I wouldn't be surprised if they played Matt Schaub a bit too.

He's a UFA after this season correct?

Will he see more time as the season winds down? Only 9 carries yesterday, but some great results.
