Here is what I read about the Porter and Shell meeting in a Contra Costa Times Q&A with the Raider beat writer:
QI RECENTLY READ THAT ART SHELL THREW JERRY PORTER OUT OF HIS OFFICE DURING A MEETING OF THE TWO. CAN YOU SHED ANY LIGHT ON WHAT THIS WAS ABOUT? COULD HE POSSIBLY HAVE WANTED MR. PORTER TO PRODUCE ON A CONSISTENT BASIS AND BECOME A TEAM PLAYER? THANKS.

ARaiders#13, I am the writer who reported that incident. Yes, Art Shell threw wide receiver Jerry Porter out of his office after a get-to-know-you meeting turned confrontational. Porter doesn't take criticism too well and despises being told what to do. However, he soon learned that he won't be able to push around Shell the way he and others did Bill Callahan and Norv Turner. Shell told Porter what he expects from him and how things are going to be around Raidersland now that he is in charge. Porter's options are to conform or risk being traded. Porter looked great at minicamp and appears on board for now. However, he is prone to sulking and grumbling if he feels as if he isn't getting enough passes thrown his way. So, Shell likely will have to get on Porter from time to time and make him realize that he isn't bigger than the team. Take care. Sincerely, Steve.
