Paterno...has recieved all the venom even though many peoople involved did much worse.
"many" people did not do much worse than Paterno. The new emails demolish this line of thought. At this point I think most people not wearing Penn State blinders see the hierarchy (from most culpable to least) as:1. Sandusky (obviously, though with the irony that in some ways he's the one whose actions are most excusable, given he's a sick, sick man)2. Paterno/Spanier (most powerful men involved, and the ones who everyone else kowtowed to. By signalling that the correct move was to keep the problem under wraps, they gave all the rest of these moral cowards permission to ignore their better instincts and allow Sandusky to roam free). 3. McQueary (No matter he "made sure it stopped", he failed miserably, day after day, for another decade and that baffles me. He's the one who saw a rape and decided his dream job was more important than causing a stir).4. Schultz and the other guy, whose name I can't even remember. Faceless, spineless beauraucrats of a type we're all familiar with.
