Jersey Shore (3 Viewers)

I lived in Pawtucket, RI for three years. There have got to be a higher concentration of guidos from Rhode Island than ANYWHERE else in the country. It is just amazing. The hair, the tans, the roids, its . . . awesome.
North Providence, Johnston and Cranston has Pawtucket beat... but yeah.

Most of Pawtucket is IRISH or SPANISH fwiw. Im from Cranston and it's not as bad as it was. Johnston and N.P. still are. Smithfield and Lincoln more so now even. My wife taught art at Paulys high school but she doesnt remember him. Im Irish and my wife is Italian btw. Also Im guessing Raiduh nation is Portugese if I remember where he is from, lol.

Pauly D is from Rhode Island? Huh?
The show is called "Jersey Shore"... it's not called "These are people who are from the Jersey Shore."
Did I say he was from the Jersey Shore?
So why the surprise? What difference does it make if he's from New Jersey, Rhode Island or New Mexico?Sadly, that's how many of the people here in R.I. act/speak.
I disagee with this part. Its here in guido tri-town (Cranston, Johnston, N.P.) a bit but it's not close to 20%, even here in Cranston. Most Italians are not like that. My wife won't even watch it.

Why won't she watch? Is she "offended"?

Spanish? As in Spaniards? Or Spanish-speaking?

Anyone else think the Ronnie/Sammi on-air break up was staged? Seems like they had broken up a long time ago and mtv just want to cash in on a fake break up.

Latinos and Spaniards(not really)

I watched about 5 episodes yesterday leading up to the finale. I thought they all seemed like pretty normal folks, albeit with a little bit of "Jersey" behavior. But they'd probably look at us in Texas with the same view. The Sam chick is annoying and needy, and the Jwow chick deserved a LOT more screen time. But I was a lot less replused by this cast then the folks on every season of the Real WOrld.

I'm so bummed this show is over. I'll be very disappointed if the Tier 1 players (The Situation, Pauly D) aren't brought back for season 2.
They'll be back. Hopefully they bring back Ronnie but not Sammi. They waste too much showtime on their crappy love story.
Why on earth do you people think they will bring back cast members? They use a different cast on Real World every season. This show is basically RW on the Jersey Shore so itll be an all new cast.

But she's hot. I'd be cool with new hot girls. No Snooki's, please.
I loved the Situation's total 180 on Snooki after he hooked up with her"She's a cute girl..."
Snicks = exhibitionist oompa loopaThree of the cast members were from Staten Island (which is about the same ratio you typically find on the Shore).

As long as they keep taking guidos from the forgotten borough, this thing will always be money.

OK IM an idiot.
The "Jersey Shore" cast is bidding to bump its salaries up to a fist-pumping $10,000-an-episode following the wild success of their MTV show.

The cast -- including Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, "Pauly D" Delvecchio, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino and Jenni "J-Woww" Farley -- earned only a few hundred dollars each per episode for the first season, and now want a huge raise for the next one.

A source close to the crew told us, "They want $10,000 an episode, arguing that the stars from 'The Hills' get $100,000 per episode and that show doesn't even rate as high. They're hanging together like the cast of 'Friends' and saying if they don't all get the pay increase, none of them will return."

AP

left, Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino, Jenni 'J-Woww' Farley, Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi and DJ Pauly D Delvecchio Thursday's finale was watched by 4.8 million viewers, three times the audience of the season opener. Now cast members believe they're worth up to $100,000 each to film the second season this summer. The negotiations are being led by shrewd operator Larry Rudolph, who is managing Pauly D.

But Snooki says that if the talks fail, she plans to find herself a rich man. She told The Post's Kirsten Fleming: "If I am not tied up with work, I will get my own beach house in Belmar and live it up. There's mad-hot rich guys there."

On the party circuit, the "Jersey Shore" stars are in great demand, earning up to $10,000 a night for personal appearances. They'll miss Pauly D's deejay gig at Sutton Place tonight because they've been invited to Sean "Diddy" Combs' "Sweet Sixteen" party for his son, Justin. And sources said Snooki has been invited to the Grammys by Ellen DeGeneres.

Snooki said she was hiring a bodyguard to keep fans at bay. The 22-year-old "Princess of Poughkeepsie" explained, "When we try to go to TGI Friday's or Applebee's, we can't eat because people go crazy."

A rep for MTV refused to comment on the negotiations and added, "We have not yet confirmed a season two."

My favorite quote from the finale:

The Situation - "Hooks is like Chuck E Cheese for dudes." Memorable

Theyre a dime a dozen here in Staten Island

 Sitch & Paulie D will be back. They'd could go on w/o the others.

MTV bosses are calling the bluff of the money-hungry "Jersey Shore" cast by looking for new talent. Sources say MTV reps have been touring Jersey Shore bars for new stars for the next season. We reported last week that the cast is demanding $10,000 per episode to sign for another season. A source tells us that MTV "would like the popular names to return, but if the cast doesn't agree to lower their demands, producers can easily replace them with a new team."
So that's the situation...

MTV are being a bunch of greedy #####es in this one.$10,000 per cast member per episode is NOTHING. They were/are paying "The Hills" cast 50-100k/episode for ratings much much lower.Pay them MTV.

Why would they? There're tons of cheesy guidos on the east coast that would gladly do it for $1k per episode.

But the Hills cast was irreplaceable?

I still say they should have kept the dudes, who I think are funny, and bring in new, hot chicks for them to hook up with.

 This was one of the all time best shows and all reality shows pale in comparison. When I heard about this show and started the thread I thought I would be watching a bunch of people who would be so foreign in nature I would be shocked and entertained at the same time. For the most part I was the one shocked. Pretty much every guy on the show came across as not so bad guys and could actually see myself having a beer with them. The Situation will go down as an all time best character. Hell I'm pissed that I didn't come up with "The Situation". It's a robbery and GTL are also classics and this guy brought his A+++++ game on the show. Now it seems like all are trying to get salary bumps for a second season but I don't know if this show will ever be as good as season 1. How can they walk or go anywhere w/o people wanting to fight or #### with them?

There was some talk earlier in this thread about a RWRR/JS type of deal. On Bill Simmons podcast this week this topic came up with Dave Jacoby and while it seems like an obvious homerun he said that RWRR and JS are different production companies and that could be an issue.

I can't put in to words how  I would be if they could pull off a RWRR/JS challenge

My wife said they got their money so there will be a season 2.

How stupid do you think Angelina feels for not wanting to go to a job that was below her

The show worked because they were unknowns and because the guys were willing to go hoggin. No way it works now.
Something tells me that MTV wouldn't be disappointed if they started pulling higher quality tail. Maybe it's part of a revolutionary cutting edge new marketing concept: hot chicks = :moneybag: Outrageous, I know, but maybe it's just crazy enough to work.

You might be onto something.
