Jets / Bengals Preseason Game (1 Viewer)

Good to see the Bengals are in midseason form. 3 and out ending in a false start, drop by Hall, drop by Green, burnt for a TD.

I dont think you can draft any Offensive Bengals. Team DST is probably out as well just because they wont have much time to rest and will spend a LOT of time on the field. IDP players though that might be a good thing.

Bengals are easily the early front-runner for the Luck sweepstakes. On the flipside, AJ Green could get a ton of garbage time points this year. That is, of course if his QB can get him the ball deep.

dalton looks terrible.
Perhaps I'm crazy, but I think Dalton has more upside than Sanchez. Obviously the conditions are bad, but does Sanchez ever throw a pretty ball?Green two drops. A pretty ho-hum weekend for the celebrated dynasty rookie trio of Ingram, Julio and Green.Burress already has 6-8 targets. He looks better than I expected.

After struggling early the offense has showed signs of promise. Dalton has looked decent, a couple bad throws, but far more problems from the WRs than what was on him. The defense has showed signs of promise as well. Front 4 is getting pressure, Zimmer is sending some blitzes. Hall has been toasted a couple times, and despite the injury risk, this team misses JJ. Michael Johnson has looked great (at this natural position that he should have been playing two years ago).Huber is a beast. Good lord can that kid kick the ball.

How many targets has Green had so far?
4-5, two full on drops.

LOL at people convinced that Cincy will draft Luck next season. First of all, Dalton is the real deal and will improve as the season progresses. Secondly, Cincy will not draft QB 2 years in a row. Dalton is the franchise for now. If he doesn't get better in the next couple years, then maybe they re-visit. But Dalton isn't going to be written off after his rookie season, let alone 2 pre-season games in which he didn't get adequate off-season prep work. Don't discount Dalton yet - he's a player.

For those watching or Jets homers what is the situation between McKnight/Powell? Is there a clear cut #3 after Green/LT? McKnight has the numbers tonight but I am not sure how it is in camp?

Greens drops were inexcusable but damn does he look good out there. He makes it look so easy to get open its scary.

The one catch he had was against Revis. And he made him look silly while doing it.

If there were such a thing as a punters league, I would draft Huber.
:goodposting: Huber is the man. Will be putting him as a Pro Bowl Punter in the Bold Predictions thread :) Of course, some folks were on the Huber train earlier...Here

so far so good, but I'll feel better if we get Caldwell at pick #6 of round 3. Kinda funny that they did the surprise weight inspection on Andre 2 days ago (he was only about 7 pounds over his playing weight so that's encouraging).

Things I hope to see on day 2:

Caldwell with the 6th pick of round 3.

Crazy as it sounds if they have to draft Huber in round 5 I say do it - the kid's got a cannon for a leg.

A fullback at the top of round 6.

Should be able to get a decent RB and DE at the end of 3 and in early round 4.

Let's cross our fingers.

Who Dey!

(Btw the Caldwell I tipped there was Antoine, not Andre who was drafted in '08). :bowtie:

3 drops now for AJ
Seriously? Bad drops? Is he matched against Revis and getting open? Does he look good until the ball hits his hands?Too many questions?
Yes, Yes. He has gotten open enough to be hit in the hands, not sure if those were against Revis though. I guess you could say he looks good till then, not sure that is a good thing for a WR1 though.
That deflected INT looked behind Green to me. a top Wr should make those catches, but I'm not sure how much fault I give him on it.

Btw, went to the game to watch my Who Deys. Random thoughts.

The great thing about Huber's 77-yard punt (!) was that like 65-yards of that was in the air. On a rainy night. With no breeze (testament to that was a few minutes later the Jets punter getting off a 50-plus yard punt the other way. He buried 3 or 4 inside the 20 and even pegged one at the 1. Honestly could be the first punter on the cover of a team's media guide since Dave Jennings next year.

The Bengals o-line looked better than it did against Detroit in pass protection. Andre Smith looked good again. Had a harder time running the ball today which was a little scary. The reality is that Benson is going to get like 700 carries this year (okay maybe only 650).

Regarding Green - I'm wondering how many games he has played in rain/bad weather. I think there's an adjustment period for this for him in the offing. Was the reason for Dalton's first interception.

Dalton - didn't look good at all early. (The first pick was on the money though.) The 2nd pick was a classic overthrow in the Carson Palmer/Boomer Esiason mold. He settled down on that nice 70-yard drive. My favorite moment and the thing that was most encouraging was during that drive the Bengals faced a 3rd-and-9. Dalton looked over the Jets personnel, changed the play and calmly told the other players and promptly completed a 10-yard pass for a first down. That was a :moneybag: play. Carson would've probably ended up taking one of his patented delay of game penalties there.

Our secondary has to stay healthy. Will be interesting to see how it looks when Pac Man is back in there. Hall looked awful on the one catch by Plaxico, getting turned around. The Plax touchdown was against their like #4 corner so I'm a bit less concerned there.

For being put in a lot of bad positions, I think the defense hung in there. They did a good job stuffing the run at least. Until that last drive in the first half (where I think a couple of guys like Clements were out) they actually were doing pretty good. Gotta figure out who lost Keller on that play from the Jets own 1 - that was ridiculous.

It's going to be growing pains, for sure, but I feel there were some encouraging signs. This year is probably a 5-6 win upside kind of year but in 2 years I think I'll be plenty excited.

Jets fans were surprised that the Bengals were throwing at Revis. I like that Dalton showed that kind of confidence.Oh Gradkowski's interception was a turrible throw. Backup for sure now. Caldwell made a nice grab on a Gradkowski throw and I'm still a little sad that he just isn't going to get the chances I think he deserves. Seemed to me, however, that that 3rd receiver position was a bit of a time share with Shipley, though Caldwell was in in the 2nd half so I'm sure he's #4.Guess Carson Palmer will cry harder this week as his brother wasn't in the game at all. My own personal guess is that Marvin might say something to the effect that he'll get the 4th quarter next game. The finale will be the battle royale between RunPee and LeFevour for the coveted #3 QB spot. LeFevour seemed pretty mobile and that might be the difference.-QG

The #2 pick in the draft next year and Dalton could not fetch A. Luck.

green looks like a huge mistake. cant really blame the bengals as he was simply a "can't miss bust." his alleged strength is catching yet he cant catch. dalton looks likely to be legit. no doubt the inevitable luck#1 is botched in some way next april.
