I'm guessing it has something to do with completion percentages.Could it be that both starting QBs combined for over an 80% completion rating?
Wow, great job! Chad Pennington (32 of 39) and Trent Edwards (22 of 28)The game saw 67 passes attempts, and over 80% of them were completed! How rare is that? It turns out, incredibly. While my database is not complete, I could only find one instance from 1996-2006 where this occurred — in 2004, when Peyton Manning (who would set the NFL single season QB Rating record that season) and Daunte Culpepper (who would break the NFL single season total yardage record that season) went 39 of 48, an 81% completion rate. We’ll see if Pennington and Edwards have similarly successful seasons this year. Additionally, in 2002, Rich Gannon (who would set the single season completions record that season) and Brian Griese (who as recently as last week was considered better than Rex Grossman) completed 80% of their 85 passes in week ten of 2002.
