I saw this coming before the Jets beat both the Pats and the formerly undefeated Titans on the road. Only now, Favre is no longer a weakness. This Jets team can win it all. They are a complete team. They still have to take care of business but they should be favored in all their remaining games.

'er. That seems to be all many NE fans have going for them this year. But, I give credit where credit is due... Pats fans can with the best... or worst of them. I'm sure -baller will now show up... but he's on my ignore list!

The Jets deserve respect for defeating the Titans, but they haven't won a title in four decades. The Patriots were a dynasty, and won 18 games last year. because they can't keep track of all the championship gear that fills their sports stores. The years probably start to blend in after a while. I was happy to see the Giants keep them from perfection, but really. Why are Jets fans slamming Patriots fans about their team in week 12? Didn't you guys split the regular season?For the record, I think the Jets have a great chance to win the division but there's a lot of football left. That's a very competitive division.

b-n-b, yes, it's a great time to be a Jets fan, and only we know all too well how it can collapse like a house of cards in a week, but this may be the best Jets team we have seen in decades. I hate to even say that... for fear of a fierce wind!When Jenkins went down, I was scared... almost dirtied my panties. Three players the Jets CANNOT afford to lose: Jenkins, Mangold and Favre. Any injury would of course hurt, but those 3 can not be replaced.
The game plan today was near perfect. The Jets have been built to take advantage of defensive mismatches against the opponet's LB's. That means Keller, Leon, and underneath routes, which is what worked so well today, and last week agaisnt the Pats. If A Thomas was playing last week, the Jets may well have lost. He is the kind of LB that an opponent must have to defend the Jets attack.
In the future, I think a good coach will try to use a safety more often against the Jets in place of an LB. At least in some sort of rotation. If they do, then the Jets may well respond with more runs.... this offense is tough to defend right now. And yes, it's a fun time for the long downtrodden Jets fan!
pmagic.... yeah, I often find it an excersize in discipline to restrain myself when some Pats fans post here...LOL. Some of them can really dish it out. I do my best to stick to talking football, without the moronic trash takling. Trash talking is for players. They have the right to do it, and have something to say about who wins and loses. Us fans? Mere coat tail hangers. Victors or victims of the teams we root for.
But... do you still really think the Jets have no chance in hell of winning the division? The schedule from here on is tougher on the Pats than the Jets... but I guess we'll see.

Was just talking about this with some other diehards this weekend. As longtime fans, in the back of our minds, we're of course worried about the other shoe dropping , but this time is about as well-rounded as we've seen in many, many years. Sure there were some decent teams in the '80s and later with Parcells and even Herm, but this one seems a lot more well-rounded. The QB, running game, WRs/TEs, OL, DL, linebackers, secondary and special teams are all good-to-strong. Favre isn't having a dominating year, but has been cutting down on key mistakes. And above all, he gives the offense a lot of credibility that forces defenses to adjust.Rovers said:

SF absolutely played a great game. But one has little to do with the other. The Jets seemed a little lackluster most of the games and as was the case last week, little to no adjustments seemed to be made on either side of the ball when something wasn't working. The team has seemed like it was coasting for a couple of games now. They need to get going soon or they will get to watch the playoffs at home again.Buffalo is very winnable. So was SF. The Jets seem to be lacking an identity on offense, which is ridiculous when you have a top 5 RB and an offensive line built for a power run game. It is maddening that Jones only got 10 carries yesterday. It is beyond maddening that Jones only carried the ball TWICE after the middle of the 2nd quarter. I don't how long it's going to take Mangini to learn that putting the ball in Brett Favre's hands is not a recipe for winning! Of course, the flipside of this problem is the pass defense giving up 3rd downs (as a Steelers diehard I know your pain here) and allowing long drives, which is part of the reason the Jets felt they couldn't lean the run when they got down 17-14 in 2nd half.
The Jets have also lost a little of their physical edge - but again I would say at least a part of that is not trying to just cram the ball down the other team's throats. It sets a tone for both sides of the ball.
At least if the Jets keep reading their press clippings (like it seems like they did after the Titans game), they'll have good bulletin board material.
The season feels like it's slipping away, so I expect them to do something like they did vs Arizona and St Louis. The Arizona game followed a horrendous game vs SD on the west coast, so one can hope.

The did look pretty awful. But let's not forget a lot of teams have bad losses throughout the year, unless they are elite. I am also staying positive. Then again, I'm not one of those fans that gets crazy with every win or loss. I did go to 7 home games the season they were 1-15
I think they will turn it around - just need to stop the bleeding this week, otherwise they are in deep crap.

From what I can see in the past few games, teams are working the Jets over in the middle of the field right now. Either finding holes in zones (particularly with TEs) or just flat out beating the Jets linebackers in bad matchups. Mangini better tighten that up.

When I started to write this post I wanted to take the high road and not rub it in the faces of Jets fans other than Rover and a couple of others. However, as I began to write and reflect back on some of the things that Chase has written in the past, I couldn't help myself from taking a couple of shots. A caution to average Jet fans, I feel your pain and this is not directed at you and it would probably be best to stop reading this now. This post is directed at a certain irrational Jet fan who has gone out of his way to make sure everyone knows just how much he hates NE, their players and their organization and he has it coming. Blind Homerism, arrogance and delusional wishing, thy name is Jets fans (certain Jets fans); no sign of Rover, hopefully he is busy looking at himself in a mirror. Chase put his "oops" in early (I use that strategy myself, less painful that way) and while I don't blame him for believing in his team, I have to ask "what were you thinking?". I have no problem with you believing the Jets would win the division and make the playoffs; it certainly looked that way. But to give your team (the sad sack organizatipon that hasn't really won or done anything in almost FORTY years) the kiss of death by talking about bye weeks before they even qualified for the playoffs is a classic example of NY fan ignorance and arrogance run amok. Your team and organization aren't very good and they haven't been very good in a long, long time. I am sure that there are many (most) Jets fans I could sympathize with, but considering some of the nasty things he has written in the past, Chase isn't one of them. FTR, I have filed this thread right along side the comically irrational and hate fueled "I hate NE, their coaches and players" diatribe that Chase authored not so very long ago.Oy, face it? I didn't mention the Pats in my post and I am not sure it means all that much, but if pressed it would be hard not to agree that the Jets are the better team right now. As for the Jets, they are not all that and yes they might go 5-2 down the stretch, the division and playoff race are clearly wide open and indeed the Jets are in the drivers seat. However, to think that they are so solid that it is blasphemy to suggest that they could easily falter down the stretch and dismiss it as blatant homerism (wishful thinking maybe) is silly. The Jets are the same team who lost to Oak 3 weeks ago, it is hardly unthinkable that they could lose to Ten this week and then Den the following week. Then they fly to the West coast to take on a SF team that is more formidable than the OAK team they already lost to; 3 of their games are on the road and 2 of those are on the west coast. I don't think they will be favored by more than 6 points in any of their remaining games (if they should happen to beat TEN that could change) and the reason for that is simple; they are considered by most to be a good but not great team.The wonderful thing is, we get to watch and see how it all plays out. If i'm wrong I promise to come back and eat some crow and take my punishment for speaking such heresyI understand being a fan, but the lack of objectivity by so many Pats fans borders on arrogance or delusional wishing, I'm not sure which. Blind Homerism, arrogance and delusional wishing, thy name is Jets fans (certain Jets fans); no sign of Rover, hopefully he is busy looking at himself in a mirror. Chase put his "oops" in early (I use that strategy myself, less painful that way) and while I don't blame him for believing in his team, I have to ask "what were you thinking?". I have no problem with you believing the Jets would win the division and make the playoffs; it certainly looked that way. But to give your team (the sad sack organizatipon that hasn't really won or done anything in almost FORTY years) the kiss of death by talking about bye weeks before they even qualified for the playoffs is a classic example of NY fan ignorance and arrogance run amok. Your team and organization aren't very good and they haven't been very good in a long, long time. Condolences to Rover. No, I didn't think the Jets had "no chance" to win the division... that was just me being silly. I did however think that Favre would cost them the division and I was right. You can look up any Favre thread and you'll see me talking about his interceptions. He loses so many games, he costs his team so many games. It was plain as day for me to see that he just refuses to let his team win anymore.
