Jets/Ravens Thread; Sanchez's Deer in Headlights (1 Viewer)

Not sure if there is a game thread for the Jets - but that bad interception by Sanchez could be telling - it will show how he responds to his first dose of adversity.

Also, Washington is awesome.

**Posted this in another thread but figured I would post here**

---------

Should have had another INT for TD. Kid looks lost, but we will see how he responds, could be telling here.

I think it's very understandable for a rookie to look lost in general, but against the Ravens, it's going to be ugly. If he's strong enough, this is how you learn.

There were a couple good lines by the booth.

Jaws mentioned that "it was hard to simulate the Ravens defense" and Gruden said, "Adversity is a good thing."

Mark just got hit more in 5 plays vs. the Ravens then his entire season at UCS.

Joking aside, it's week 2 of the preseason and he's playing the Raven's. Would be pretty shocking if he actually looked good.

I think he has the moxy, I just think it may be wise for the Jets to let this be a true competition, which they seem to have done to this point.Eager to see how/if he settles down.

Exactly. It's fun to be cute with the welcome to the NFL stuff, but even the most ardent Sanchez supporter had to expect the Ravens would make life very difficult for him. Getting out of the pocket and resetting his feet for the 3rd down pass was a nice move. All is not lost yet.

Flacco looking strong.

Well until he tried to force that one into double coverage.

Can someone tell me again why I SHOULDN'T take Ray RIce?

I keep hearing McGahee is the man there, and McClain will get 10 TDs.

Rice looks good so far, to me anyway.

Jaws: "I don't think there's another QB in the league right now that throws the out route better than Joe Flacco"

 x googleplex

Take him if you want. Just don't expect RB1 or RB2 numbers. Balt will have a full fledged RBBC.

Double reverse was a bit quesitonable there, no? Rather pound the ball this early and that far back, but then again, it is preseason.

Seemed like NYJ were afraid to let Sanchez throw the ball on that drive. Had a 2nd n long and a 3rd n long and they run up the middle. Why not let the kid fling it if you are going to start him?

Call me a homer but Clemens should start for the Jets this year. I think tonight you will see Clemens plays better with the job on the line, and he wants it more.

Not sure the thread title is fair. A "deer in headlights" to me is someone who is intimidated or afraid. I don't think that's the case here. Sanchez made two terrible throws. That happens even to veteran QBs who have names ending in "avre"... nevermind a rookie.

:goodposting: The kid is a rookie. Expecting him to light it up right off the bat, much less against the Ravens, is unrealistic.

Definitely saw a deer in headlights look - but it doesnt mean he was or is a deer in headlights. I am a Jets homer, I am rooting for the kid (or Clemens whomever plays well enough to lead the Jets) so I didn't mean to come off as criticizing him.

Eh, it'd be nice if someone did.

Not a believer in Rice this year, and I LOVE seeing him score on national TV.
Those backs who can avoid 3 guys, including Bart Scott, who come free into the backfield and can still manage to not only get back to the LOS but get the first down are always overrated.

Haha, I don't criticize until I've seen a larger body of work. Gruden just did say, "He's getting his eyes opened tonight." So that's pretty close to what I was thinking.

I didn't say he's overrated, I said I am not a believer in him this year.
I interpreted your post to mean you think his ADP is too high, and will continue to rise. If that's not accurate, my apologies. My point was that its plays like the one above, as well as that first goalline play where he went down making a block, but got up and came back to make another block which allowed Flacco to roll out enough to get rid of the ball, that will have him playing more, which will warrant the high ADP.

Leon Washington and Ray Rice both look very good tonight. Someone earlier in the thread laughed at Jaws comments on Flacco's arm strength, but he has shown that strength and has also been accurate. All three of them look even better than advertised to me tonight.
