Haslett's teams prior to this season were never consistent and they always seemed to under-achieve despite the talent that seemed to be evident on these teams. Looking at this now in hindsight, it seems that Brooks' inconsistent play was the eventual factor that plagued these teams the most. Maybe if Jim would have let Delhomme take a shot things might have been different. Brooks never developed into a leader and despite his physical talent, he just hasn't grasped the mental aspect of the pro game. What this team needs is a coach that can bring discipline and a solid program. Somebody in the Coughlin mold. There are several key positions that the new coach is going to have to address in particular the qb position as one of them. I would think the Saints are going to go after a qb for thier top pick and then concentrate on the defensive backfield next.
Interesting that the Saints, Vikings and Lions could all use a Coughlin type. I personally hate Coughlin as a coach but we have been seeing a lot of undisciplined teams.

The Giant players didn't like his coaching style until they started winning. It seems that alot of pro atheletes favor coaches with less disciplined styles. My attitude is that the coach has to maintain consistentency so players know what is expected of them. Most pro atheletes are proffesional and responsible and do thier jobs well. It's how the coach address's the ones that have attitudes that affects a teams chemistry.
