Jimmy Graham "Uncertain" for Week 8 (2 Viewers)

There were rumors after the injury that the bye week wouldn't be enough time. Then all the press was along the line of "Saints not worried about Graham."

Bastards.

i remember when pierre thomas was a week away from playing for like 10 weeks, then ired at the end of the season.

Relax - That is the ultimate doomsday situation...

I'll start feeling much more nervous if he doesn't travel to NY next weekend. Until then, just a very slight burning sensation.

Anyone trying to sell now? I hate having to roster two TE's.
I'm offering him for Gronk in a few leagues and packaging trades to acquire Reed but nobody is biting. I keep getting the "I really want to see one more week of Reed" to which I want to respond "and if he has a bad week you get a worse offer and your team is 1-6."

Yeah I play in a league with a WR/TE slot and I'm weak at receiver and have Reed as backup. I'm considering offering him for guys like V-Jax or Welker. Feels like selling low but I'm worried about this injury and really need wins in the short term to make playoffs.

Who benefits is the same guessing game you play every week with the saints - wtf knows... stills, moore, watson. flip a coin and pick one of them.

Feet scare me because sometimes they can play through the pain but aren't the same... see Gates. Please post if you get more details about the injury.

Can't believe I didn't grab Jordan Reed this week. Hopefully Graham plays and puts up something decent. There is nothing out there on the waiver wire for TE's. :wall:

I picked up Watson. He's not great but his role is to catch the ball.
I mentioned this in the Lance Moore thread, but I'm not so sure that Watson's primary role will be to attempt to pick up most of Graham's slack.

IIRC, Watson is a well-regarded blocker, and he may be asked to stay in a lot to protect Brees. Perhaps that leaves Moore, who is supposed to return this week, to pick up some of the move-the-chains, red zone work.

Maybe just conjecture, but with Moore back that may muddy the picture a bit as to who fills in the gap there beyond Colston and Sproles.

Lots of diagnostic possibilities w/ Graham. Multiple ATCs told me they felt re-taping aft inj looked like plantar fascia concern.

I was adamant last year that Graham's ankle injury was being undersold during bye week. Ending up missing three weeks, limited longer.

####, mother####er, what the #### - I ####### need Jimmy, I just lost Julio... #### #### #### #### #### #### ####!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What was a promising season 3 weeks ago is getting ####ed!

I'm sure all Jimmy owners are now feeling concerned!

I traded for this guy the week of the NE game, what a bust! Lost Julius Thomas in the process - FML. Guess we'll be rolling with the backup or some other WW garbage TE for now. Perfect.

Just swapped him straight up for Gronk. Was only able to sell because he owned brees and really wanted the duo. I got a bad feeling there is something there not letting on about his injury.

I just used the uncertainty to trade for Graham. Could of course get severely burned, but I think his upside is worth the risk.

At least it's a little bit of promising news. This is looking like a game time decision for sure. If he is starting, he's in my lineup.

anyone know the best saints beat writer to follow on twitter?
Jeff Duncan or Larry Holder, but you can't trust them or the others on this kind of thing any more than you can throw `em. A guy named Wilkerson who did daily reporting for a local radio station accurately reported on Brees having an MCL problem in 2010 and basically had his career as a Saints beat guy destroyed. - Zach Strief was walking around in a bandage boot 2 weeks ago in plain view of the reporting pool and it did not even get mentioned he might be out until a couple hours before game time when he was listed inactive.

ESPN Saints blogger Mike Triplett "wouldn't be surprised at all" if Jimmy Graham (foot) was "out or limited" for Week 8 against Buffalo.
Triplett considers Graham "highly questionable," naming Pierre Thomas, Darren Sproles, and Marques Colston as the favorites to pick up the slack if Graham isn't himself or doesn't dress. Triplett believes the Saints are capable of scoring 30 points even without Graham. It's possible 5-1 New Orleans will hold Graham out of this winnable home game against the Bills, and target Week 9 at the Jets to bring back its best offensive weapon.

If you have a spare roster spot and anything less than a top 5ish TE, I don't see how you don't grab Watson as a wait and see. Last I checked this will be the first stretch where he is Drew Brees' starting TE, if Graham misses games. Yes, plural, games. NOBODY outside of the Saints building has any clue how serious this Graham injury really is. And as long as he's out, Watson is a fairly decent speculative play with pretty major upside if Brees forms a connex with him.

Yeah, but most redraft leagues usually have about 6 bench spots. Hard to roster 3 TE's if your league only starts 1, unless you're suggesting to start Watson this week. In a league with deeper benches, yeah I agree. Stash Watson in case he plays well.

I second the nomination of Watson as a must add, if you can find a roster spot. In the one league I own Graham, I got him for peanuts. In the two others where I have other solid TE's, Watson went unclaimed. I find it hard to believe how under the radar he's flying.

Where does Watson rank with the top 15? Virtually every site right now still has Graham as either 1 or 2 with the questionable tag.

If Graham is a DNP for todays practice, which I think we all anticipate, I'm grabbing Watson.... #### that, I'm grabbing him now.

The answer obviously depends on Graham's status and effectiveness. But let's assume he is OUT. What does that make Watson?

I just pushed the accept button getting rid of Jimmy Graham. Sorry guys the news made me a nervous wreck. Good luck to you Graham owners going forward.

The Saints used to throw to their tight ends a ton before Graham got there, so I definitely think Watson has some value should Graham miss any time.
