Redskins coach and team president Joe Gibbs announced on his website last night. Taylor Gibbs, son of J.D. Gibbs who is head of Joe Gibbs Racing, has begun chemo and has already had several surgeries. As Coach Gibbs said, "This is much more important than winning football games".

Regardless of your feelings for Joe Gibbs, or the Redskins, let's all wish Taylor Gibbs a complete and speedy recovery from leukemia. Hang in there Taylor, you can beat this thing.

that's too bad, best wishes for he and the Gibbs family.

I think Flutie or Kelly have been able to raise a ton of Leukemia. Not sure. If so, adding Gibbs to the mix would probably really help in raising money for researching a cure.

Terrible news. That's so sad. Sure hope the kid pulls through. If he has the heart his grandpa does, I have faith he will. All my prayers!

Hail To The Redskins

Assuming it is acute lymphocytic leukemia it occurs most often in kids about the 2-5 y/o range. My stepbrother had it (either was born with it or got it very young - not sure) and went through the chemo and is doing very well now 20 years later.

As sad as this is it's a very treatable type of cancer at this age. I hope the little tyke pulls through. I don't care if his gramps is a coach or not, I hate hearing about kids getting this. My next door neighbor's daughte got Leukemia when she was three, she's six now and is back healthy and cancer free. It was a tough fight but these little kids are resilient.
