Joe Horn is one outspoken cat (1 Viewer)

GRIDIRON ASSASSIN

I TOTALLY agree with Joe Horn on this. I also like the fact he called out the NFL for not fining Jim Mora for talking on a cell phone on the sidelines, which is against league rules. The Charlotte Observer reports New Orleans Saints WR Joe Horn defended (sort of) Carolina Panthers WR Steve Smith on Sporting News Radio on Thursday. When asked about Smith's $15,000 fine for touching an official in Sunday's loss to Dallas, Horn ripped the NFL. "This is a money-driven business," Horn said. "The players make all the millions, and if we do anything that's outside of the rules or even bending the rules, they're going to take money from us. That's just the way it is, and they give it to different organizations or wherever our money goes. That's how it is. "If your socks are down when they're supposed to be up; if your socks are up when they're supposed to be down, you'll get a $10,000 fine or you'll get a $5,000 fine. Simple as that. That's just the rules. It's a money-driven business, and if they find a way to take money, that's what they're going to do."

I believe money received from fines is donated by the NFL and not kept. Also - the NFL donates millions to charities every year - while obviously they are a business - they also are community driven.Joe Horn is an idiot.

If Joe Horn is unhappy about this money driven business, Joe Horn should find a new line of work. If you heard Joe Horn speak, Joe Horn would have trouble getting a job at BurgerKing.

Joe Horn is a washed up jerk! What did he do this season to help his team? F' Joe Horn, he is a selfish scum bag who will be out of the league all together by 2007 (some dumb team will take a chance on him after he and Brooks are cut by the Saints and he'll have 30 catches for 300 yards before being forced to retire!)

They should absolutely fine Mora - if it's against the rules, you don't get a free pass because you are a coach.

I could care less if Ricky f'n Williams said it. It's true. The NFL's rules are a joke. The uniform rule... even the fact that they wouldn't let the Niners coach wear a suit on the sidelines.I'm still waiting for that Jim Mora fine too btw...Or is there a double standard between coaches and players?

Some of the uniform rules are a joke but comparing a coach calling the league office from the side lines during a game and some clown hiding a cell phone under the goal post padding to embarass the other team after scoring a TD is just plain STUPID!Next Horn will play the race card....mark my words....It will be because he is black!

Like I said, F*@k J. Horn!

Goodbye for a couple days.J

If the rule states that you can’t use a cell phone during the game (I don’t know what the rule says) then it doesn’t matter who Mora was calling or why he was calling them.

Are one of you guys going to inform Joe Horn that's he was only allowed to complain about ridiculous rules during his Pro Bowl years? If only thinking the uniform policy was silly didn't hinder his performance so greatly, his opinion would carry more weight.

Joe Horn was on the Dan Patrick show today. Joe Horn is a pretty well-spoken cat. Joe Horn has no personality or charisma, but seems pretty intelligent to me. I suspect Joe Horn will better BK if needs the work.

They're not a joke. The NFL has carefully maintained and groomed their image for a long, long time. The NBA is a classic example of how to let players ruin a league by letting them do whatever the hell they want to. Now the NBA is practically unwatchable. And not because the level of play is worse- far from it. It's because not many people can get passionate about watching a bunch of punk-### overpaid gangster-wannabe kids shoot their mouths off every time they feel that the league is ganging up against them. On the other hand, they're making sure to cash that check. No one likes hypocrisy. The NFL is not that over-the-top in enforcing their rules and fining players. People like Horn are mad because they constantly try to push the envelope and they get called on it. I think the NFL allows players some latitude in being creative and expressive, but they definitely draw hard lines on some things. It's their right- it's their league.

I thought that the fine against Horn a few years ago for the cell phone thing was a bit excessive, but aside from that, I don't see where he has been so victimized. If you don't like it, Joe, get out and make room for someone else.

:goodposting: I saw a one-hour special on Rozelle. He emphasized image, image, image.
