Joey Galloway (1 Viewer)

How come no one talks about Joey Galloway? If the Patriots offense is in fact the best it has been in years, dont you guys think Galloway can hold some value in a pass happy offense? I just picked him up for $2 in a PPR league and i'm thinking he can do some damage, any homers have some inside info? I'm just thinking he's pretty undervalued at WR (Have Fitz, Calvin, Andre Johnson ahead of him...making him my WR4)

1) Not clicking very well with Brady so far.

2) Way too many drops and wrong routes in the preseason.

3) Historically, the #3 WR for NE has been fairly ho-hum production wise:

Gaffney 38-468-2

Stallworth 46-697-3

Gabriel 25-344-3

Brown 39-466-2

Branch 35-454-4

Brown 40-472-4

Branch 43-489-2

Glenn 14-204-1

some good facts you found, havent been following NE in TC and preseason so had no clue. I think he could put up 55-650-5, is that a way too high ceiling?

That's too high IMO. Maybe 35-500-4 . . . and that might be pushing it.

This is like when everyone thought NE should cut Cassel last year and keep Gutierrez instead. This year it's Galloway looks bad and they cut Greg Lewis. My gut says Joey Galloway is going to be better than people think.

In real life he could be the best slot receiver this season.
Is that really where they're playing him? While he sucked pretty hard last year in general, he looked particularly bad on his inside routes. The guy's been burning it up on the outside pretty much his whole career - doesn't seem like the ideal guy to try and convert to a slot. Besides, that's Welker's gig, no?

This is leading to the conclusion that Welker's injury might be more serious than stated. He has not practiced in over a week. Don't recall the specifics of the report (ribs?), but you know how tight the NEP injury report is.

I'm happy to take flyers on him as my WR5
Me too. Normally I associate late round flyers with youthful upside but I don't mind making an exception for him. The '07 version of him appeared to have a lot left and is just a considerably better player than NE's previous #3's. I realize the parlay of him still playing at that level while 2 yrs older after an injury and quiet preseason is unlikely. But it is more likely than hoping to peg the right Giants WR out of the 800 Giants WR's who are going around the same time imo.

how many games for gaffney and stallworth as #3, respectively?and I haven't heard anything about galloway in the slot --- where's this coming from?

I think that was just some idle speculation from one of these posters.

Galloway is not playing the slot. Whoever posted that is using the real football term (WR3) as a literal term, not the third best fantasy scoring option.

For a 37 year old he is still faster than many on the field. I think Galloway is qualitatively different than Pat's WR3 in the past. Lewis was the one who was more in the Brown, Branch and Gaffney mold and when they cut him instead of Galloway it suggested to me that their plans were different. If they are going to use Galloway correctly they send him on speed routes. My guess is that he performs more in line with Stallworth with a couple more TDs overall.
