Joey Harrington vs The Jets (1 Viewer)

Now i'm no huge Joey Harrington Fan and am a huge Jets fan. So maybe it all boils down to a gut feeling I have but I feel like he is going to light it up against the Jets defense. The Jets over the past 5 weeks have given up an aweful lot of yards and TDs (both rushing and passing) to opposing RBs and QBs (Kerry Collins, Tom Brady, J.P Losmon, Peyton Manning) and not to mention the career best day to the likes of J.P Losmon. I just don't think of Joey Harrington as a worse QB than JP Losmon and Kerry Collins (starting on the titans with barely any practice I might add).

Last week against the Pats, Joey threw the ball 41 times for 232 yrds, and NE has a much more intimidating D than the Jets, with a much better pass rush.

His ranking of the 25th worst QB out of 26 to start this week is ridiculous. Matchup against the Jets alone dictates he should start above many of those QBs, even the one he's opposing this week, Chad.

25 out of 26 sounds about right to me.

The key is.."What will he be ranked AFTER Sunday" As was stated earlier no one ever posts the results of the rankings. If you like him..play him and hope for the best.

In my mind his value is totally tied to C-Pepps and with Daunte on the pine for (who knows?!) his value increases. Every start will improve him. Considering he's the 2nd to last bet this week - I think it's a definite buy-low situation in 2 QB or deeper leagues.

I would probably start him over Andrew Walter, Damon Huard and Matt Leinart, maybe Alex Smith, Vince Young and Steve McNair, but thats about it. I still see him as a risk to get pulled for Cleo Lemon if he struggles. I do agree that Harrington has the potential to finish as a top 10 QB this week, but I would consider him more of a boom/bust than a safe play.

It's sad that you mentioned 3 of my other QB options in your thread. Looks like I'm starting Harrington this week. :(

I am starting Harrington as well this week with bye week issues. My other options are Leinart, Huard, or Gradowski. Harrigton is a veteran who has started before. That makes the decision for me.

fixedHad about the same option w/ Lefty on a bye and Cpepp on the bench (Hurad and Leinart gone in a 14 team league). Going w/ Gradkowski @ home - IMO the best shot of the bunch for 250/2 - and surprisingly confident w/ it. Nowhere near a lock for thost #s, but he'll be forced to throw to keep up w/ Cinci.

Harrington will struggle on the road. And the Jets will be motivated after last weeks beatdown. Joey just makes BAD decisions w/ the ball - and likely always will.

Why would you ever bench Huard for Harrington? Also, if you were a shark you'd start Gradkowski, who will throw for 250/3 this weekend when the Bucs beat the tar out of the unprepared Bengals.

I'd start him over all the names you mentioned above plus Ben Roethlisburger, Chad Pennington, and possible even Jake Delhomme (at Baltimore) and Jake Plummer (They will run easily on OAK, no need to pass). I don't see much oppurtunity for BUST as the floor against the Jets is at least 200 yrds, a TD, and maybe an INT or two. I see the floor for all the other QBs mentioned as much lower. FWIW, no QB agaisnt the jets this year has thrown for less than the floor I stated. The ceiling, I can see a 2/3TDs and over 300 yrds, depending on how much the Jets can slow down Ronnie Brown. I see him top 5 QB this week in yds at a minimum, and a fairly safe play for someone you can grab on the WW. I'm not sure how much value Joey will have going forward, I may keep him for the GB series and then send him back to the WW. Just got keep that QB platoon carousel going until Trent Green comes back (I hope!)I think another good option of the WW this week is Bruce Gradkowski.
