3) no other team gave much interest, and Joey sees Culpepper as an injury risk, providing his best opportunity.Personally, I would have thought Kansas City would have been the ideal fit, but they may not have been as interested. As far as Joey Harrington is concerned I see two scenarios here:
1) He thinks Culpepper won't be a factor for a good part of the year and this is a situation where he can revive his career.
2) He thinks Culpepper will be ready early but he's comfortable being an NFL backup at a young age.
Could be the case. Unless he knows something about Culpepper's health it seems like an odd move for a young QB. There would appear to be better fits for him but as you said maybe they didn't have interest.3) no other team gave much interest, and Joey sees Culpepper as an injury risk, providing his best opportunity.Personally, I would have thought Kansas City would have been the ideal fit, but they may not have been as interested. As far as Joey Harrington is concerned I see two scenarios here:

Sammy Morris is an aqequate backup. Bennett could be used for some quick draws etc, but I would not take a 1.5 mil contract for him. Sammy Morris runs hard and understands teh game. He might not be great at anything, but he is not bad at anything either. I think he is better than people think. Thanks for the Harrington update. Thought the last item in the article was also of interest:
"The Dolphins also have spoken with the Saints about acquiring backup running back Michael Bennett, whom New Orleans signed earlier in the offseason to a two-year, $3 million deal before drafting running back Reggie Bush."
With RW suspended, Bennett is a possible backup to Brown in Miami, and therefore could have some (albeit not a whole lot) FF value there.
No way saban does that. Its a 6th rounder topsSome of the Detroit forums are reporting it could be a 3rd rounder if Joey plays all year. Just reporting what I heard from a Lions fan.
I can definitely understand - the guy is rich and now has a job playing backup in Miami. Not a bad gig if you can get it.maybe Joey just likes Miami?
there are worse places to live.
hanging on to Harrington in one dynasy league, and i'm interested to see what he can do there.
he's vetoed any other option repeatedly and told Millen and Co. that it was Miami or nothing. That's pretty much been known for a few weeks now.maybe Joey just likes Miami?

right, my point was, maybe it's not so much the situation, as he likes the city?pretty stupid reasoning, but who knows?he's vetoed any other option repeatedly and told Millen and Co. that it was Miami or nothing. That's pretty much been known for a few weeks now.maybe Joey just likes Miami?

It's not stupid reasoning at all - if you were going to be signed as a backup where would you rather be?right, my point was, maybe it's not so much the situation, as he likes the city?pretty stupid reasoning, but who knows?he's vetoed any other option repeatedly and told Millen and Co. that it was Miami or nothing. seems like people are excited about what Saban is doing there, maybe it's just contagious?
part of a winning team. i hope that's why he picked the Dolphins, because he thinks they can win. Harringotn will get excellent instruction in Miami and he's craving it. I think Saban is gonna make a man out of him and in some form or fashion he will play an integral part of the offense this season.
I absolutely love the fact Miami has CPepp but having a young QB like Harrington behind him is not bad either.
Miami needed to upgrade at the QB position and they now have done so.
With the Bills, Titans, Texans and Jets on the Schedule in the first 6 weeks it's very possible. Wish you luck Joey... You were unfairly the scapegoat of an all around bad organization.I wouldn't be surprised to see Harrington resurrect his career in Miami in the same way that Thomas Jones did when he left Arizona. The pressure of saving the franchise will be lifted and he should get better instruction. He'll also have a consistent running gane and decent protection to take even more pressure off. Few probably realize this, but he had the same QB rating last year as Culpepper--72.0. You have to wonder what it would do to Harrington's confidence if he leads Miami to a 4-2 record, for instance, while Culpepper is recovering.

since its a 5th what does that say about Saban nowNo way saban does that. Its a 6th rounder topsSome of the Detroit forums are reporting it could be a 3rd rounder if Joey plays all year. Just reporting what I heard from a Lions fan.
It says he is willing to get the player he wants. If Joey hits the incentives that makes it a 5th rounder, then he was worth a lot more than a 5th rounder.since its a 5th what does that say about Saban nowNo way saban does that. He'll feel good that he isn't in Detroit.I've always wondered how a change of venue would work for Harrignton. A fresh situation could be just the thing - but how will he feel if Culpepper has his renaissance first?
Just to clear this up -- ESPN says no such thing. Their story says it's a 6th and could be a 5th if conditions are met. That condition is if Joey Harrington plays 40% of the snaps this year. Not gonna happen.Espn says it's a 5th.

Saban knows how Culpepper's recovery is going far better than any of us do right now, and I think he was willing to throw that condition on there because he believes Culpepper will be ready by week 3 or 4.
