all's well and good until someone shows up with a black tie and a bicycle...
Looked pretty bad last year. Huard did much better. I think Green is done.I think Trent Green is a little gun shy, or still has some cobwebs. Beck could be in sooner than later.
:X at the Green lantern collectionfrom Dolphin beat writer David J Neal, as posted on miamiherald.com:• Don't know how John Beck and Brady Quinn will compare as NFL quarterbacks, but I'll wager my Green Lantern collection that Quinn doesn't throw a deep ball with the accuracy and sigh-inducing aesthetics that Beck does. Thursday morning, the beneficiaries were Michael Malone behind Michael Lehan and P.K. Sam behind Jason Allen and Chris Harrell, both about 40 yards downfield.
No way. It would be like 2 people, tops.I wish you Beck backers all the best of luck. This is the Beck bandwagon only. If you are riding the Lemon Bandwagon start your own thread.
Shhhhhhh.Let them roll. While you guys ride the bandwagons that are John Beck and Trent Green... Ill sit in the back of the short bus that is Cleo Lemon.:11:
Not unless Chris Chambers gets some hand transplantsAccurate deep passes + Ginn and Chambers =

Can you elaborate please. I didin't follow BYU carefully but looking at his stats I find this comical. In his senior year (13 games) he threw for 3885 yards, with 32 td's to 8 int's while completing 69% of his passes. That works out to a ridiculous 298 yards a game and 2.46 touchdowns a game as well. What more do you want this guy to do at college ??? I mean if he had mental toughness would he have averaged 350 yards passing a game?I lived in Salt Lake during Beck's college career.I am definitely OFF this bandwagon.IMO, the guy just doesn't have the mental toughness that it takes. Anyone who followed BYU football closely, I think, would agree with me.
In order to show mental toughness, he would have to complete a pass for a winning touchdown against BYU's greatest rival, with no time left in the game.Oh, wait....he did that. Can you elaborate please. Taking the math a bit further, that works out to 4768 and 39.28td's. just sayin. Can you elaborate please. I didin't follow BYU carefully but looking at his stats I find this comical. No offence and I don't want to get in a hissy match with you but you know very little of Beck as a person; I mean any guy that travels abroad to help out in a different country has the makings of a great person, with special qualities. So he cried and he may be emotional.... big deal, right now, I will trust a franchise who drafted him in the second round to be their QB for the future and thinks that he has what it takes to be an NFL QB over someone who barely knows him. Also, people use stats as they are facts. What you are using to try and convince us is pure speculation. If you guys are going to throw stats at me in response to an observation about his intangibles, then I am wasting my time. The guy cried at a press conference. He was an INT machine at the end of games. BYU was constantly hinting they were looking for his replacement until his senior year.No question he can chuck the rock. And he grew up alot during his senior year - I will give him that. The Utah win was evidence of that. But, IMO it is difficult to change the core makeup of a QB. They either have it or they don't. In my opinion, Beck doesn't have it, and that, when the chips are down, he will disappoint more often than not.Just a fair warning. I could be totally wrong here, but that was my observation.
Like I said, I think I am preaching to the wrong choir. And I am by no means saying "this guy is a guaranteed bust."Just saying the red flags are there, and pointing out what they are. The fact that he has been on a mission, like 90% of BYU players, and has big stats, like most BYU QBs, does not change my opinion. I know what I saw. Like I said, maybe he has gotten himself right in the head. Just saying Buyer Beware. No offence and I don't want to get in a hissy match with you but you know very little of Beck as a person; I mean any guy that travels abroad to help out in a different country has the makings of a great person, with special qualities. I have him in dynasty but was thinking about cutting him after his first game. What makes you think he is going to do well on MNF?Grab Beck this week! The phins are on MNF and after that game, you won't be able to get him on the wire.
Ok, but the "Grab Beck this Week!" was funny.Alot of HOF QB's had a rough first game. I watched the game so my evaluation is more that just a stat line. Here is what he did well: He did not throw a pick, despite being blitzed every down. He did not get sacked, despite getting blitzed every down. He was going through his reads looking deep first and then checking down. He had good pocket presence. Beck also has very underrated arm strength.
Beck did hurry some throws and missed some guys. He did have a good number of drops and a td pass dropped.
All rookie QBs on 0-10 teams excel on MNF against the #1 defense in the NFL.I have him in dynasty but was thinking about cutting him after his first game. My point is this: He will do pretty well and everybody who never gave the guy a thought will grab him because the game is on national tv.All rookie QBs on 0-10 teams excel on MNF against the #1 defense in the NFL.I have him in dynasty but was thinking about cutting him after his first game. In a dynasty league, perhaps. In a redraft, I doubt anyone will watch this game and think "wow, I need to start him from now on, this year"Then again, he should be rostered in dynasty leagues already. My point is this: He will do pretty well and everybody who never gave the guy a thought will grab him because the game is on national tv.All rookie QBs on 0-10 teams excel on MNF against the #1 defense in the NFL.I have him in dynasty but was thinking about cutting him after his first game. I missed this thread the first time around, but wanted to comment on the above. I respect Flufhed for giving his opinion, especially a differing one here, but one point that stuck out to me was, "it is difficult to change the core makeup of a QB. They either have it or they don't." I don't think things are this cut and dried. Sometimes the light bulb goes on, sometimes the confidence goes sky high surrounded by talent and sometimes it doesn't...I did not watch beck in College and I have watched only the few preseason passes and last weeks game. I like the way the ball comes out of his hand, he has a good release and throws what looks to be a catchable ball. He has some mobility which is a good thing as well. He clearly showed some inaccurate throws that were a little surprising and off target, but it is early. One start does not mean anything for a starting QB and I have been on record saying that the full report card should not be in until the middle of next year on Beck. That being said, there is nothing wrong with getting a few reviews along the way to gauge progress.Like I said, I think I am preaching to the wrong choir. And I am by no means saying "this guy is a guaranteed bust."No offence and I don't want to get in a hissy match with you but you know very little of Beck as a person; I mean any guy that travels abroad to help out in a different country has the makings of a great person, with special qualities.
