John Carney or Lawrence Tynes (1 Viewer)

Anyone? Can this be pinned?
Per the Latest news:October 10, 2008, 11:45Giants :: KGiants HC Coughlin Sticking With K CarneyDan Martin, New York Post - [Full Article]New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said that he expected John Carney to continue kicking in place of Lawrence Tynes, even though Tynes is no longer listed on the injury report.I think there is another thread dedicated to these two also.

Everywhere I'm reading says it's a game time decision

That's two days old. It's a GTD.

Sure is going to be interesting to see how this plays out. Giants paid a lot of money to retain Tynes.
I've seen a lot of people posting this but never knew how much. So I went and looked...Kickers:

2008 2009 2010

Lawrence Tynes 625,000 900,000 1,100,000

John Carney 830,000

2/11/2008: Signed a five-year, $7 million contract. The deal included a $1.25 million signing bonus. 2008: $625,000 (+ $120,000 roster bonus), 2009: $900,000 (+ $130,000 roster bonus), 2010: $1.1 million (+ $50,000 roster bonus), 2011: $1.2 million, 2012: $1.3 million, 2013: Free Agent. Cap charge: $995,000 (2008).

I don't know if Carney or Tynes' contracts have guarantees. I think the signing bonus Tynes had is guaranteed. I don't know though.

If Coughlin plays Tynes and he stinks and the G-men lose, the fallout would be unbelievable. Therefore I guess Carney. But I'm playing against him so I sure hope it's Tynes.

The amazing thing about it is, upfront it was stated Carney is just the caretaker until Tynes got healthy. Tynes is kicking pain-free and is no longer on the injury report. How could they sit Tynes when he's clearly ready to go? Plus they are playing the lowly Brownies, may not be much kicking to begin with in this game :boxing:

Carney has done everything they've asked of him, made every single kick this year. How could they bench him when he's batting 1.000?
