John Wick: Chapter 2 (1 Viewer)

I really enjoyed it, not as much as the first though. Seemed like this one was made with a definite hook for a 3rd instead of trying to complete the story in this one.

Still haven't seen it but I was watching the videos of Keanu practicing the gun play and martial arts. Dude put in a crap ton of work and it shows. I can't wait to see it translate to the big screen.

I agree with much of what has been said.  I enjoyed it, but the first was better. I think of it as a positioning movie, setting the stage for Chapter three.

The body count was easily double the first.

Buddy and I were discussing it after the movie, who killed more people, John Wick in vol 2, or Beatrix Kiddo (Uma Thurman) in Kill Bill Vol 1?

It's gotta be close, I'm not sure how many of the 88 she actually killed, since she made that line about those that are alive can leave but they have to leave their limbs behind.

Easily John Wick.  He has multiple scenes with multiple kills.  The Bride only has the one multiple kill scene.

After typing that I did some looking at different sites.  The Bride's kill count in Vol 1 is 76, John Wick in Vol 2 is 128.

Haven't seen it, I enjoyed the first one for it's grit and simplicity. My fear is they would glam #2 up like the fast and furious movies with the ridiculous CGI and dumb stunts. Did they do that?

Just saw it. The first one was better.  This one was good however there were looonngg stretches of no action.  Would give it 3 1/2 stars out of 5.

Kind if disapointed actually.  Perhaps I was expecting too much.
Long stretches with no action?  Is 10 minutes long?  I'd almost say there was so much action that it started getting repetitive.

Not even close to the Furious franchise. Still dark and gritty, lots of violence and quick sequences like the first.

Yeah this movie is pretty non-stop action. There are a few areas of conversation, but he kills 128 people in this movie--that is 51 more than the first movie. It is a movie that a 2nd viewing is almost mandatory to just catch everything.  It just gives me the itch to start rebuilding my 69 Mustang that I have sitting in the garage.

Just got out of the film. Loved it and would recommend. I just love the up close stunts and action. No excessive use of the dark or jump cuts for cover. I also liked the expansion of the world. And I knew we'd be getting a third chapter so I like that it is a clear cliffhanger with no apologies. I can't wait to see him kill them all. I assume we will see Common again. I really thought he was very good. He was a believable foil. Not sure if Rose will be back but she was kind of the one flat spot. Not intimidating at all. I never believed for one second she could take Wick.

Yeah, this was the first thing I've seen her in and I'm not getting the hype. Maybe she's really good in Orange is the New Black.

I enjoyed both of them, but I am surprised it got such a high rating on Rotten Tomatoes.  Ruby Rose was a dud.  Like NCC mentioned, it's nice to see more traditional fight scenes rather than over CGI'd crap or the seizure causing fast cuts of some movies.  Fury Road also did a good job with this.

I guess the longest stretch was when he was planning. But that was a great fast exposure to the world of the story. Didn't drag for me I thought it was really fascinating.

Oh and I think I'd sit back and let everyone else try to.collect that contract. Thin the herd and I'll handle the buttload of easy work that must be available. When the competition is largely gone I'll make plenty.

It's made 93MM worldwide so far, hopefully that's enough to get Chapter 3. Not sure how much more 2 cost to make. In comparison the first made 88MM worldwide.

Chapter 2 had a reported 40 million dollar budget which is still pretty cheap by Hollywood standards. And when we throw in video sales chapter 1 has grossed around 100 million. This one will easily beat that and it seems like chapter 3 is a done deal.

Saw it last night. I really enjoyed it. That shotgun though. The only part I didn't like was Rose. Females are just not intimidating...please stop Hollywood.

Agreed. Great action movie! Excited for the third. Love the old dude running The Continental.

Great stuff.  I didn't particularly like Keanu getting smashed by cars multiple times and just getting up, but whatever.  The fighting and gun play seems "realistic" in that he shoots someone as soon as he gets a chance, rather than simply beating them up.  I also like how he has to reload all the time.  Agreed the girl big bad was stupid, I'd have way rather he faced off with that dude who he left the knife stuck in his heart.

The one scene that I didn't like was in the subway when the aforementioned duded and our hero were just walking on different levels and shooting and missing each other.  Seems dumb compared to how great a shot he was the rest of the time.

The world he rolls in is pretty cool and bears more fleshing out I think.  Great stuff.

For me, that's already one of the most hilarious, iconic scenes ever shot for an action movie. And I wouldn't call it unrealistic. Both parties were not interested in hurting civilians, and clearly neither wanted to get caught right there.

I get that, but when both were shooting through the fountain for example, they didn't seem to worry much about civilians.

JW2 was great, really enjoyed it. 5 pencil kills :lmao:  . Action was solid as I'd expect, plot for what it is was also entertaining. Thinking Wick getting a head start was good will for being kicked out of the Continental, Santino was so hatable and Winston had to play by the rules, technically. Really curious about the marker Wick was given before walking out of the park, thinking Winston willing to help if he can without breaking the rules in the next installment. My bets are on the Russians or Fishburn providing him help in JW3. Also :lmao:  at everyone in the park getting the text with the 2x contract. I'm willing to let a lot slide with the realism in this franchise, so much fun to watch.

Before the mirror scene wick reloads his gun and reaches over the gun with one hand...what was he doing and why?

Just watched it this week and absolutely marveled at the length of some of those shots in the fight scenes.  Especially the one in the club.
This is what makes it so fun/good for me. So much better than Taken where there are two cuts in the scene while a single punch is being thrown. Zero choreography and all done with edits <<<<<<<<<<< Wick choreography
