Jonathan Taylor: Will he ever score another Rushing TD? (1 Viewer)

Hello, everyone! This is my first post here...

When Richardson took over center, I read where it would open up lanes for Jonathan Taylor... instead, it seems Taylor has been losing goal line TDs to his QB.

Aside from this past week's embarrassing "fumbled" TD, Taylor has not run the ball into the EZ since week 8. I used to feel confident starting him every week. But recently, I feel like others should get the start (I've got Hubbard, Dowdle, and Guerendo at my disposal, as well). Maybe I should start Richardson (I just picked him up as backup — Lamar Jackson being my #1 QB) AND Taylor... cover my bases. Ha!

Any thoughts?

Thanks for your insights, and for the thread suggestion. I'm new here, and wasn't really sure where to post this.

I did see threads with Taylor as a focus. But they looked old.... posts from 2019, etc. 🤷🏻‍♂️.

I'm not necessarily a fan of the way it's done around here, but player's get one thread for the duration of their career, so yes, their will be some quite old posts in the player threads.

Hey, you expected it to work like a normal forum. The regulars here are very weird and have twisted it into something else entirely.

Which is worse, having multiple threads on the same player on the front page, or just going to the end of the player thread for most recent posts, which avoids old news?

Hmmmm. Such deep philosophical questions so early in the morning. 🤭 I dunno, man. I don't think there's an exact same post as mine, since it's a very specific question — albeit, about a much-discussed player.

I'll check the other threads. All I saw were very old posts at the top of the section. Newest posts/threads should appear at the TOP, I'd think.

I hope not. I play against him this week.

Newest posts are on the last page of threads. It was just a suggestion, but you do you.

this

the way it works here is why I joined and continue to visit. Everywhere else sucks so hard. The fact that there's a primary thread with links to player and team threads that is continually updated is fantastic. Joe should run the internet.

I prefer a forum where I can actually take the temperature of what topics people are discussing, and jump into what looks interesting. When I just see a laundry list of player names, I just shrug and don't click any of them.

There would be nothing wrong with multiple Taylor topics on the front page if there were multiple issues surrounding him that warranted discussion. When discussing Taylor's lack of TD this year, there's no value in having chatter about 2020 Taylor in the same topic, it's not relevant.

You guys do whatever you want. I was just offering a suggestion, as I don't really care one way or the other.

I don't think it's "bad" or "incorrect" to have a new thread for a specific discussion about a player, but I still prefer keeping things in one player thread, just my preference, would not tell anyone not to do otherwise. That being said, the only thing I don't get in your post is "there's no value in having chatter about 2020 Taylor in the same topic". This makes it sound like there are 2020 posts in the middle of 2024 posts, and you have to weed through the old ones to find the new relevant posts. It's pretty straightforward, the new ones are at the end.

Just chiming in to say I've always hated how the player threads are done here. They inhibit the visibility of major discussion topics that might be relevant. At the very least, they should be archived or locked at the end of each season. Or a brief sentence about the current topic/issue added to the thread title like how many of the team threads are done.

The problem with multiple threads each detailing specific scenarios about the same player is it limits engagement. It's one of the reasons the Assistant Coach Forum is a wasteland. If no one cares about your specific question you won't get much engagement.

I'm a general thread you run across multiple conversation topics that many of us didn't realize we would engage in.

I'll point out that I don't think anyone has addressed the topic of this thread title but the nature of forum structure is getting a lot of traction from people who most certainly didn't enter to discuss that topic.
