Jordy Nelson & Randall Cobb - start or sit tonight? (1 Viewer)

So what's the shark pool doing?

In 2012, as part of the fail mary game, Jordy had 3 targets and 2 catches for 19 yards and Cobb had 1 catch for -1 yards (and one rush for 20 yards)

So yes, I believe in "start your studs" but all of us have options on the bench who might easily out-produce Nelson and Cobb this week.

Thoughts? I am struggling with this decision in multiple leagues and have changed line ups multiple times since last night. Please do not treat this as a thread that needs to be bumped if Nelson and/or Cobb go off tonight (or do nothing tonight). This is just to bounce this off everyone here and get a feel for what is the right move here.

I understand it comes down to who your options are, hence if you are benching these guys - who are you comfortable starting? Britt vs Minny? Greg Jennings vs Rams? Amendola vs Fins? Danny Woodhead vs Ari? Pierre Thomas vs Falcons? Steven Jackson vs NO? These are all players on some of our benches that would be obvious replacements.

Don't have Nelson but if I did I would seriously consider sitting him if I had any other viable options.

I do have Cobb and will be starting him. Cobb runs 95% of his routes from the slot and Seattle lost their best slot cover guy (Thurmond). I expect him to be replaced by Jeremy Lane. To give you some stats on slot coverage:

Thurmond had 229 snaps in coverage, allowing 26 receptions on 38 targets for 195 yards (129 YAC). A QB Rating of 69.5

Lane had 75 snaps in coverage, allowing 12 receptions on 18 targets for 125 yards (98 YAC) . A QB rating of 86.6

So Thurmond got targeted about 14% of time he was in coverage, allowing 68% completion for 7.5 ypr

Lane got targeted 24% of the time he was in coverage, allowing 67% completion for 10.4 ypr.

This is a pretty well-disguised WDIS thread.

But I think that a 2nd and 3rd round pick can probably never be benched based on matchup, especially if playing with arguably the best QB in the game. And also considering the crackdown on inappropriate touching in the secondary.

Unless you have Cooks or Benjamin on your bench, you should probably stick with Jordy/Cobb tonight.

Jordy starts when healthy.
Yes, when he AND Rodgers are healthy.

I'm starting Jordy without hesitation. It depends on the other options you have on your bench but unless you are absolutely loaded at WR then I think you start him regardless of matchup and hope for the best.

Obviously Seattle D is tough but I'm confident in Rodgers and Jordy. Plus they move him around and Sherman doesnt usually just lock onto one man. It's a tough spot but I'm starting with confidence. Would likely say the same for Cobb, unless again you are just loaded at the position.

Sherman doesn't shadow opposing WRs. GB is going to move Jordy around enough to keep him relevant.

Last week PFF Fantasy’s Ross Miles highlighted “The Big Four” in terms of corners tracking opposing team’s top target with Sherman conspicuous by his absence. While Haden led the league aligning opposite a team’s opposing No. 1 wideout on 65% of snaps and Peterson did so 55% of the time, Sherman was far lower at 27%.
Unless you're in an 8-team league or play with lowly guppies like the OP over here (sorry, I couldn't resist) and have a legitimate replacement I don't see how you can sit either.

I drafted Jordy Nelson in the 3rd round just so I could bench him.

Mods...let's clean this one up.

I believe offenses have a slight advantage over defenses in Week 1 of the season.

Start 'em.

But if you have one of those guys, start them every week unless their legs have fallen off.

I totally understand the concern after the beat down SEA put on GB in 2012 and on DEN in the SB. But as others as posted, only if you have a viable option. I have Nelson and considered starting Torrey Smith or Hilton over him. But I'm not.

This is a pretty well-disguised WDIS thread.
Not even that well disguised.
Well, technically it is a WDIS post, but it addresses concerns of the masses as far as concerned owners of any Green Bay players tonight. So, the op is helping out any people with starting this tread and the people responding are also helping.

And yes the answer is to start Nelson and Cobb. And if they both tank tonight and justin hunter goes off on your bench you still made the right choice.

Start your studs. Especially in week 1.

Have to consider the author of the thread as well. Known Packer hater and all around awful FF player.

Please ignore the fools who complain and cry about this being a WDIS thread. Too many people who have no lives outside of the FBG forums

I think the matchup sucks for the GB players tonight but I just plug and play my studs like Jordy/Cobb/ARod/Lacy. Take what you get from them and play matchups with other players like the ones you mentioned.

Or people that realize there is another forum for this and like this page not to be cluttered up with rate my team crap and people wanting others to make decisions for them.

You start them, of course. As great as Seattle's D is, big time WRs, more often than not, get theirs against them. Andre Johnson, T.Y. Hilton and Demaryius Thomas all had big statistical games against them last year. I am not saying Nelson and Cobb are both gonna light it up tonight, but I doubt they both get held to almost nothing.

Well I am considering benching at least one of them, maybe both because I have these other options (start 4)

K. Allen

Fitz

Calvin

Garcon

Benjamin

And of course both GB WRs.

Just seems if you do have several other good options, not the worst idea to bench them is it?

It's a legitimate question.

Not everyone plays redraft and you could easily have one (or both) as well as other top tier options.

I have them both in the 10-15 WR range this week meaning that I'd sit them for the big guys above them, but probably not doing something "cute" like a lower ranked guy with a good matchup.

You don't have to be in a redraft to understand that in a redraft they were both drafted as top 10 WRs this year. If your particular dynasty rosters has two of the 6-9 WRs who may have been drafted before them then by all means go with those guys, otherwise you start them both.

Agree. I think that's kinda what I said.
