DETROIT -- The Tigers added another reliever to the mix of their depleted bullpen, acquiring right-hander Jose Capellan from the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday for Minor League left-hander Chris Cody.
The 26-year-old Capellan has spent the past month in the Milwaukee bullpen after being promoted from the rotation Triple-A Nashville. He's 0-2 with a 4.50 ERA in seven games for the Brewers, scattering 10 hits over 12 innings with six walks and eight strikeouts.
Capellan was a key piece of the Brewers' relief corps in 2006, making 61 appearances and posting a 4-2 record with a 4.40 ERA. However, he was optioned out to Nashville at the end of Spring Training and requested a trade soon after. He was placed on the restricted list later in April after leaving the team for two days, but has been quietly productive since.
