Did they just say "miss with addai"???
is he inactive or something??????
is he inactive or something??????
:(Dungy said in his news conference last night that it was a "basketball sprain", not a "high ankle sprain" (and this was on ESPNEWS - which really mystifies me why ESPN is reporting a high ankle sprain when coverage on one of its own networks said otherwise).
I know Jamal Lewis did it his rookie year (2000) and LT (2001), not sure if anyone has since.FWIW, Addai was the closest rookie RB to 1000 yards. He needs 83 yards. If he's unable to go, the next closest rookie to 1000 is MJD with 764 yards (236 shy). Anyone know how many years we've had a rookie RB reach the 1000-yd mark? Isn't it like 20-something?
The Dungy quote is in espn.com's writeup now:"I heard on the news reports that it was a high ankle sprain, and I thought I made it pretty clear last night that it wasn't,"Dungy said. "It's a basketball-type sprain. It's sore, but I think he should be OK."Dungy said in his news conference last night that it was a "basketball sprain", not a "high ankle sprain" (and this was on ESPNEWS - which really mystifies me why ESPN is reporting a high ankle sprain when coverage on one of its own networks said otherwise).
Colts Rookie Running Back Expected to Play Sunday, Dungy Says
INDIANAPOLIS – Tony Dungy wanted it made clear Tuesday:
Joseph Addai’s ankle injury is not, as far as he knew, a high-ankle sprain.
Dungy said so Monday night, in the wake of a victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. After several media outlets reported it differently, the Colts’ head coach said it again Tuesday afternoon at his weekly next-day news conference.
“I’ve heard on the news reports that it’s a high-ankle sprain,” Dungy said Tuesday at the Colts’ complex. “I thought I was pretty clear in my press conference (Monday night) that it’s not a high-ankle sprain.
“It’s more the basketball/rollover sprain.”
Addai, the Colts’ rookie running back, has rushed for 917 yards and seven touchdowns on 190 carries. He sustained his injury Monday on a season-long 41-yard run in the third quarter of a 34-16 victory over Cincinnati.
Dungy joked Monday night that because the Colts were playing in Houston – Addai’s hometown – he doubted the rookie will miss Sunday’s game.
“Had it been a tight game, he probably would have gone back in, but our thought is he’ll be able to go this week,” Dungy said Tuesday.
Scout.com reports Joseph Addai (questionable, ankle) has been wearing a walking boot around the Colts' practice facility.Coach Tony Dungy has repeatedly downplayed Addai's ankle ailment, calling it a basketball-type sprain and denying ESPN's Chris Mortensen's initial report that Addai had suffered a high ankle sprain. Addai did not practice Wednesday and the Colts are reportedly "playing it safe" with their rookie running back, leaving his status less certain for Sunday.Source: colts.scout.com
I think you should read something into this when it comes to the status of Addai.I'd be very surprised if he played this week.A new article is up. Here are two clips. First is a Dungy quote. Second is from the writeup.
“I think he’s going to go,” Dungy said. “He did some drill work before and looked pretty good. He felt good. I think he feels like he’s going to go. I would expect he’ll do a little bit in practice (Friday).”
Clark, Addai, Proehl and Sanders all missed practice, according to the team’s injury report.

Also Thursday, Dungy said the Colts placed tight end Jerome Collins on injured reserve with an Achilles injury, and replaced him by signing running back Korey Chapman from the practice squad. Collins sustained the injury in practice Wednesday
