Joseph Addai to be listed as questionable (1 Viewer)

I heard on sportscenter that Addai suffered a high ankle sprain tonight vs. Cincy. Doesn't look good next week for Addai owners.

The Addai owner is out in my league anyway but I have Rhodes along with FWP going against BAL this week for the superbowl. Can't imagine me sitting FWP but something to think about.

Dungy said in his news conference last night that it was a "basketball sprain", not a "high ankle sprain" (and this was on ESPNEWS - which really mystifies me why ESPN is reporting a high ankle sprain when coverage on one of its own networks said otherwise).

:(

I've watched the replay a few times on his long run and I can't for the life of me see where he re-injured the ankle. He got hit low and landed on his side, he never planted after trying to save himself the impact. He looked good, cutting to the outside and bursting down the sideline and I didn't see him let up at any point. Where did he get hurt? He didn't take a hit on it, he wasn't planted and he never got rolled up on. Seems like he might have tweaked it but I was shocked at the "high ankle" report.

Addai will be listed as questionable on the injury report, making both he and Rhodes unstartable, as whichever one you pick will be the wrong one. And if you start both, you'll still be screwed. Manning will either throw or run at the goal-line.

Anybody else get the feeling that Peyton didn't like Addai getting all that attention in the Philly game? The Colts have gone out of their way to limit his opportunities ever since.

FWIW, Addai was the closest rookie RB to 1000 yards. He needs 83 yards. If he's unable to go, the next closest rookie to 1000 is MJD with 764 yards (236 shy).

Anyone know how many years we've had a rookie RB reach the 1000-yd mark? Isn't it like 20-something?

I know Jamal Lewis did it his rookie year (2000) and LT (2001), not sure if anyone has since.

The Dungy quote is in espn.com's writeup now:"I heard on the news reports that it was a high ankle sprain, and I thought I made it pretty clear last night that it wasn't,"Dungy said. "It's a basketball-type sprain. It's sore, but I think he should be OK."

Addai Likely to Play

Colts Rookie Running Back Expected to Play Sunday, Dungy Says

INDIANAPOLIS – Tony Dungy wanted it made clear Tuesday:

Joseph Addai’s ankle injury is not, as far as he knew, a high-ankle sprain.

Dungy said so Monday night, in the wake of a victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. After several media outlets reported it differently, the Colts’ head coach said it again Tuesday afternoon at his weekly next-day news conference.

“I’ve heard on the news reports that it’s a high-ankle sprain,” Dungy said Tuesday at the Colts’ complex. “I thought I was pretty clear in my press conference (Monday night) that it’s not a high-ankle sprain.

“It’s more the basketball/rollover sprain.”

Addai, the Colts’ rookie running back, has rushed for 917 yards and seven touchdowns on 190 carries. He sustained his injury Monday on a season-long 41-yard run in the third quarter of a 34-16 victory over Cincinnati.

Dungy joked Monday night that because the Colts were playing in Houston – Addai’s hometown – he doubted the rookie will miss Sunday’s game.

“Had it been a tight game, he probably would have gone back in, but our thought is he’ll be able to go this week,” Dungy said Tuesday.

The Colts' site is reporting that Addai did NOT practice Wednesday. Dungy's comment has a different tone than yesterday's, IMO, and now I'm seriously considering replacing him in my lineup with either Rhodes or Cedric Benson, b/c we need to submit lineups Thursday.

In other news, rookie running back Joseph Addai – who sustained an ankle sprain against Cincinnati Sunday – did not practice Wednesday, but Dungy said he may play against the Texans Sunday. Addai, who played collegiately at Louisiana State University, is from Houston originally.

“He wants to play, obviously, with the game being back in Houston,” Dungy said. “Our doctors think he has a chance to. We’re hoping that will be the case.”

(KFFL) ESPNews reports Indianapolis Colts RB Joseph Addai (foot) has a lower foot sprain instead of a high ankle sprain.

from rotoworld

Scout.com reports Joseph Addai (questionable, ankle) has been wearing a walking boot around the Colts' practice facility.Coach Tony Dungy has repeatedly downplayed Addai's ankle ailment, calling it a basketball-type sprain and denying ESPN's Chris Mortensen's initial report that Addai had suffered a high ankle sprain. Addai did not practice Wednesday and the Colts are reportedly "playing it safe" with their rookie running back, leaving his status less certain for Sunday.Source: colts.scout.com

Looking like a GTD.

From KFFL: Indianapolis Colts RB Joseph Addai (foot) missed practice Wednesday, Dec. 20, and will be a game-time decision for Week 16. Head coach Tony Dungy thinks Addai will play in the game.

FWIW, The Colts site has an updated injury report as of 4:25pm today (Addai QUES). Their most recent article discusses what may be an increased role for Rhodes this week, and includes a Rhodes quote from today (not informative), but does not say if Addai practiced.

A new article is up. Here are two clips. First is a Dungy quote. Second is from the writeup.

“I think he’s going to go,” Dungy said. “He did some drill work before and looked pretty good. He felt good. I think he feels like he’s going to go. I would expect he’ll do a little bit in practice (Friday).”

Clark, Addai, Proehl and Sanders all missed practice, according to the team’s injury report.

I think you should read something into this when it comes to the status of Addai.I'd be very surprised if he played this week.

Also Thursday, Dungy said the Colts placed tight end Jerome Collins on injured reserve with an Achilles injury, and replaced him by signing running back Korey Chapman from the practice squad. Collins sustained the injury in practice Wednesday
