Joseph Randle....no love this week? (1 Viewer)

This will be his coming out party (no homo).

I predict that Murray will be sidelined for longer than a week. Randle has a great match-up with Philly and will have a solid fantasy game of at least 10 points.

Stud. Not a dud.

I spent 40% FAAB in a 20-team league on him. The pickings on the WW are extremely thin so I'm somewhat surprised I got him for that. Even if he only plays 1-2 games, I think it's worth it given his match-up this week. And he's the handcuff the rest of the way if Dunbar's hammy keeps him sidelined. I also own Dunbar in that league.

Perhaps situation played a role.

Wasn't too impressed in the pre-draft process though, or preseason either... Again, maybe that's just me.

Not going to disagree... But the situation this week is as good as a WW player could get - should see the majority of snaps against a bad def on a good offense.

That much is true. Either Randle or Tanner *SHOULD* produce given the situation. Randle should get first shot, but Tanner may prove more effective.

I could be wrong in all of this though... Just have a hunch it could be Tanner.

He looked pretty terrible to me against a really poor Redskins D.
what's this based on, btw?
Gotta be based on the first 2 weeks when McCoy and Starks ran wild on WAS. They changed their nickel to 3 corners, 1 safety, 4 LBs in week 3, benched speed bump Bacarri Rambo, and haven't been all that bad defending th run since. But they have seen 3 straight injuries to opponent's RBs, and they really give it up to RBs in the passing game.

Week 3: Bush: injured DNP; Bell:20-63-1, 4-69

Week 4: McFadden: 5-29, 3-31, injured; Jennings: 15-45, 8-71

Week 5: bye

Week 6: Murray 7-29-1, 2-21 injured; Randle: 11-17-1, 2-15

Matt Forte will either kill them or get killed.

straight line runner without shiftiness. he needs a hole to produce. just a "guy" to hold them over until Murray and/or Dunbar get healthy. which could be just a week or 2 since Murray is already running. its only a grade 1 sprain. Fred Jackson was able to play through the same injury earlier this year.

being in a good offense is probably randle's best asset.

Here's the problem.

The Cowboys really are a pass first team. Romo likes to pass and often ignores the run even when Murray is healthy. Having no Murray gives him a valid excuse to just pass. This game has all the making of a shootout and the Eagles are actually quite a bit worse against the pass than they are against the run.. Basically this whole game could be played in a 2 minute drill on both sides of the offense.

If Randle can stay in and play in all the passing situations then maybe he does have PPR value. Problem is that he struggles as pass protector. So the first time he gets blown up in pass protection that may cause him to see the bench in favor of Tanner who is a better blocker. In a game that probably will be all pass from the Cowboys perspective that could mean Tanner ends up playing more snaps than Randle.

I think with Murray out this is more of a platoon situation in a game they won't even bother with the run game anyways. I certainly wouldn't be surprised to see the total rush attempts for the Cowboys be under 12 unless they get way up and are milking the clock late which is exactly the situation in which Randle did nothing with his carries last week.

I believe Tanner will play a larger role than most expect this week. I stayed away because I see essentially zero long-term value and nebulous short-term value.

Its a good add for Murray owners for a spot to fill this week. No one is predicting the next Emmit Smith.

But the guy can have a good game. 50-70 total yards and a possible TD is all people who added him are expecting (I think). Stop raining on my parade here, hes going to have a good week.

ESPN FF loves him this week. Projected to finish top 5 at RB in my ppr league. Ahead of 6 of the top 10 RBs this week.

Oh god.

ESPN is going a little overboard with their projection I think ....they are calling for 14pts in my standard league :tebow: ..if only ESPN was ever right

I find their projections to be off more often than not. Last week they had RG3 projected to get 31 points. I'm as big of an RG3 fan as anyone, but I didn't believe for a second he was getting 31 last week. Just like I don't think Randle will finish top 5 among RBs this week.

He looked pretty terrible to me against a really poor Redskins D. Not sure what all the optimism is for?

Tanner should also be involved on third down and short yardage, at least according the Fort Worth Star-Telegram:

http://sportsblogs.star-telegram.com/cowboys/2013/10/the-cowboys-added-davin-meggett-to-practice-squad-to-shore-up-injury-depleted-running-back-corps.html

Honestly part of me wonders if Tanner is the better add...
This is the sense I've had since the preseason. Tanner seems to me to be a great back for the one cut system in Dallas now. He makes good decisions and takes advantage of the holes he has. Of course this is mostly based on preseason, but the assessment of any back on the team not named Murray is.

I know the Eagles D is bad, but what makes everyonr think Dallas will turn to the run? They've abandon the run before during games with a better back in Murray. I can see Romo airing it out a bunch in this game. I think Randle will have a decent game, but I don't see him going crazy.

In a PPR, any way you look at the likely outcome, Randle should finish with at least 12-14 points this weekend.

If the Cowboys do revert to their old ways, then there will be 4-6 balls to catch out of the backfield or relatively close to the LOS. That has been consistent with the Cowboys over the past few years.

If the Cowboys try to run a little bit, the Eagles can certainly be run on.

Factor in the coin-flip chance that he gets a TD in what is being listed as the 3rd highest potential scoring game this week and it seems clear you could do a lot worse this week.

He may not be a savior to your team but he could be played over other secondary options like Tate, Woodhead, DWIL, Ellington, etc.§

Anyone saying he didnt look good didnt watch the game. He had a nice burst on runs where he wasnt just trying to run out the clock.

He is a carbon copy of Murray in my opinion. They play a lot alike. He was solid in college and most experts said he was a steal in the draft where the Cowboys got him.

I dont think he is the 2nd coming of Emmitt but the O-Line in Dallas is much better than last year and he is young and fresh against a poor defensive team.

I will give him 15/70/TD 4 REC 28 yards= 19 points in a PPR. Pretty solid start either way.

um...he was nothing special. Your from Texas so I can see why you feel this way. He will split w/ Tanner and be underwhelming.

Why?

It was alluded to earlier in the thread but simply because Randle, as many rookies do, struggles in pass pro.

I'll 2nd this as another Big12 guy. Dude was great in college.

I love him to esp for this week... When murray is back ok, but until then esp vs a weak eagle d he is top 5 imo in ppr. You def can tell who missed out on Randle. I believe he will catch more passes then Murray did and will be given every opportunity to run the ball as Murray did.

why wouldn't you believe for a second that Rg3 could get 31 points... thats 300 yards and 2 tds basically with 20 rushing yards.... Your telling me Rg3 isn't capable of that? Randle is a great option this week esp if you are in a bind.

And who burned their top priority or FAAB on a guy that's a sub-par RB. :wall:

Any chance Murray's injury turns out to be more serious than expected? I doubt it, given that he was running on Wed. Just wondering what you guys think.

I play the Murray owner this week who has no other option so I made sure to put in a strong offer to land Randle. Now I have the quandary over whether or not to start him over my RB2 options.

He looked pretty overwhelmed when he came in vs the Skins. Didn't run with much authority, and seemed to get pushed around when asked to block. Nice matchup but I can't shake the feeling he'll end the day with something like 14-50-0, 4-25-0.

Philly also did a nice job last week containing Martin, outside of a 24 yarder

11.5 points for a plug and play? I'll take it.
