Josh Bullocks (2 Viewers)

Instead of tweaking FBG's rankings, I'd like to give a  for their #31 ranking on Josh Bullocks. I believe 96 tackles is achievable, while 2 INT's and 8 PD's should be a cake-walk. I really like this guy for the upcoming season.

It's my understanding Bullocks will be the new starting SS for the Saints. I am drooling over the fact he'll get first dibs at cleaning-up the mess that Bockwoldt, Fujita and Simmons leaves behind.

As most of you know, Bullocks and Pool competed for being the #2 safety in last year's draft (with Thomas Davis as the clear-cut #1). This guy obviously has talent...

...and now he has an excellent situation.

Wow Weiner Dog good stats"

Someone in one of my leagues just offered him to me, I wonder if you guys are in kahoots?

What do you think of Leonard Pope :bye:

With Dwight Smith on the block, and the drafting of Roman Harper, it is very likely Bullocks opens the season at FS. BTW, Harper could also be a great sleeper.

No doubt. Bullocks has better coverage skills than Harper and would certainly be the FS if Harper were starting.I do think, however, it will be hard for Harper to initially be a 3-down safety. His lack of speed and ability to hang with most WR's and RB's would make him a liablity in the passing game. This would obviously change as he gains experience (ala Sammy Knight, etc).

Either way, any DB playing behind the LB corp of the Saints should have value in '06.

Yeah, I have a guy in my league throwing out low-ball offers trying to acquire him also. Small world.

What no love for Daniel Bullocks. I do not follow college football very closely so I did not know this until now:
Former teammate of his twin brother, Josh, who started alongside Daniel as a free safety for Nebraska (2001-04). Josh, who is the younger of the twins by one minute, was selected in the second round of the 2005 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints.
Not only were each taken in the 2nd round but each team used the exact same pick on Bullocks brothers. Both were drafted 40th overall in consecutive years. Any homer know why Josh came out early (at least in the Draft)?

Actually I found the answer to my question. http://www.johnfmurray.com/News.aspx?id=72

"Since we play the same position, we didn't want to come out at the same time. And it turned out I had a few more honors than my brother had. So I would have been in a better situation than he would have been, and this way we wouldn't be bumping heads in the draft process."

Sorry for the hijack Dog. Carry on

Personally, I believe Daniel Bullocks (DET) will have a tough time scoring as well as his brother, Josh (NO). FS's in a Cover-2 have enormous pass responsibilities. Daniel will be away from the action on most of the plays (unless, of course, a ball is thrown deep). Josh...on the other hand...will have a chance to play closer to the ball (either as a SS or FS) in the Saints vanilla 4-3 D.

I agree and wasn’t trying to suggest otherwise. Truth is I have not invested in either player.

I'm carrying Josh in three of my leagues and Daniel in one of my leagues. I'm actually hoping BOTH of the Bullocks perform well.

Buccaneers | Team remains interested in D. Smith

Sun, 28 May 2006 21:29:01 -0700

Roy Cummings, of the Tampa Tribune, reports the New Orleans Saints haven't given up on the idea of trading S Dwight Smith, in part because the Tampa Bay Buccaneers haven't given up on the idea of making a deal for Smith. The Buccaneers weren't willing to pay the roughly $1 million a year that Smith was going to make with the Saints, but the increase in the 2006 salary cap would now allow for the Buccaneers to take on Smith's salary without penalty. It may take until the end of training camp, or even the trade deadline, but the Buccaneers will likely get Smith back at some point.
